It’s the pinnacle of Iowa summer - FAIR TIME!! We won’t be able to make opening day this year, so we thought “let’s celebrate Joujou style!”

Today through August 23, book a birthday party for any time in the next 12 months - and you get $50 off your package PLUS your choice of a month membership or a 5 pass punch card 🐄🐖🐓🌽

So many families joined for Doctor for a Day with the Child Life Specialists from UnityPoint Health - Des Moines last week! Together, they explored and practiced and used the equipment that medical caregivers use on a daily basis.

Doctor for a Day is a great way for toddlers and kids to meet providers in a neutral place without the expectations of “anything happening to them”. We can’t wait for the next one later this fall!

Doctor for a Day is back! The Child Life Specialists at Blank Children’s Hospital are visiting next week - a perfect time to bring your littles and their favorite stuffie or doll to practice meeting a doctor, using their tools, and becoming more comfortable with what happens during a check-up.

Dr. Page will also be available to chat with grownups about any questions they have as well!

Calling all neurodivergent families! Come to hang out and chat with other families who live with neurodivergence. We will also have our Big Kid Kits available to engage any school age kiddo so you can connect and share with families.

Come at noon to share and connect with other families and with Emily Luymes.

Emily is an elementary school counselor for over 18 years, and is in the final stages of earning her mental health therapy license. She is passionate about supporting the social and emotional needs of young people and believes firmly in the power of love and joy as agents for change in the lives of children and their families.

Calling all Speech Therapy families! If your family has used speech therapy for any of your kiddos, or if you are thinking it may be time to seek out some speech therapy, this Metro Meetup is for you!

We will have Sarah Ruth, a JouJou parent, and Speech and Language Pathologist at JouJou starting at 10:30am this Tuesday! She is the speech pathology director at Iowa ENT Center in West Des Moines, working closely with our Ear Nose and Throat physicians to assess and treat patients with upper airway, voice, swallowing, craniofacial, and speech needs.

Come ask Sarah any of your questions, as she loves teaching others about the field of speech pathology.

Pride Month is almost here and we are excited to host Central Iowa Rainbow Families (and other families celebrating Pride) for a free playdate on Sunday, June 7. Remember to pack snacks to elongate your fun that day.

We loved seeing all the family makeups on our last round of Metro Meetups come through our doors, and we are so excited to connect people based on familial experiences for this round of our meetups.

NICU families can come in Tuesday, TOMORROW, May 26, to connect with other NICU families, *and* get $3 off your first kiddo!

All families are welcome at JouJou Tuesday, we are just providing a special opportunity for NICU families.

We are hosting some of our favorite local resources, Brittney, Laura and Annie!

Brittney works at in their Center for Advocacy & Outreach, there she focuses on childbirth and postpartum education, where she regularly connects parents with support groups and resources for their mental health.

Laura Camerona is an author over at .worth.repeating, where she writes books to equip parents to make the hard conversations a little easier.

Annie Reise is a Child Life Specialist at Blank Children’s working in the NICU.
