We’re a little over a week away from Trunk or Treat! It is Friday, October 23rd from 4:30-6:30pm. It will be located in our parking lot and front area where drop off/pick up is.

We’re still looking for some more people to decorate their trunks and hand out candy/trinkets. We would love to have you participate! There will be an award for 1st and 2nd place best decorated trunks, voted on by the PTO! 🥇🥈

We also could use more volunteers to help make this event successful. Parents must be present with your children at this event. Costumes are allowed (please make sure they’re school appropriate and no play weapons). Below is a sign up genius if you are able to volunteer or bring items to donate we would greatly appreciate that!

If you know of any high schoolers looking for silver cord hours we would gladly take them too! Thank you!! 🎃

Hi Horizon Science families,

We learned that some families did not receive the original notice that picture day photos were ready. To make sure everyone has a chance to view and order, the online gallery has been extended through Sunday, October 18 at 11:59 p.m.

View and order here: https://flahertyphotography.shootproof.com/HSA-DSM
Access code: The 4-digit album password is your child's birthdate (ex: March 18th is 0318)

Ordering is completely optional. We just want every family to have the opportunity to see their student's photos.

Questions about your order? Contact Flaherty Photography at [email protected].

Thank you,
Horizon Science Academy Des Moines

Horizon Science Academy Des Moines is bringing financial literacy to life with the grand opening of our Hawk Store! Students earn Dojo points for demonstrating positive behaviors and making great choices, then use those points to shop for rewards.

Through this hands-on experience, students are learning about earning, saving, budgeting and making spending decisions, all while having fun. And judging by their excitement, the Hawk Store is already a hit!

At HSA Des Moines, we believe learning goes beyond the classroom! Learn more about HSA at https://hubs.ly/Q04yF_Kb0

Learning comes alive when students can observe, ask questions, explore, and discover! Our students had fun taking on the role of scientists—making observations, exploring characteristics and behaviors, asking thoughtful questions, and even getting a little messy along the way!

These hands-on experiences help students build curiosity, critical-thinking skills, and a deeper understanding of the world around them. They’re not just learning about science—they’re learning to think like scientists!

STEM education provides students with opportunities to explore, investigate, and learn through real-world experiences.

We’re still enrolling for select grades! Give your child the opportunity to learn through hands-on STEM experiences and discover the joy of being a little scientist. Visit https://hubs.li/Q04y7Nz00
