Construction Technology level 1 students learned some new skills this month and mastered making concrete forms, setting rebar, and mixing and pouring concrete. Such an amazing group of level 1 students that all show pride in their work. In the next few weeks these students will tackle residential framing!

Extremely grateful for Cody McGraw from R.M. Piper Construction for visiting the construction technology students this week! Cody shared the exciting career opportunities available at R.M. Piper and even did a practical lesson on crane operations and communication. The students and myself had a great time, thank you!

Amazing craftsmanship from the Construction Technology students! It’s great to see how much we do in just a year, I’m always trying to expose my students to multiple trades, giving them an opportunity to see what excites them. Whether it’s carpentry, plumbing concrete or masonry construction technology students learn it all!

Students enrolled in the Construction program learn essential skills that can be transferred into a rewarding career or for home maintenance projects. Earlier this year level 2 construction students mastered basic plumbing skills such as PVC pipe, PEX connections, ProPress crimping and even flame torch soldering!

This group of Construction Level 2 students have been incredible this year, taking on many trades such as steel framing 🔩, carpentry 🔨, plumbing 🧰 and now drywall 🪚 and doing it all with a passion. Looking forward to watching them build their senior project in a few weeks!

The Construction Technology 2 class enjoyed a well earned break this afternoon after making a set of folding 3 in 1 picnic bench seats! This was part of a 3 day challenge project to test collaboration between class peers, blueprint reading, tool selection and overall project composition. Pictured are Aidan and Cole enjoying a break in the Friday afternoon sun 🌞 . Nice work everyone!

Construction Technology students at Pinkerton Academy got to tour the new social studies building today, and were treated to a full in-depth tour provided by the buildings superintendent Matt Murphy from Eckman Construction, and the architect who designed the building Pinkerton alum Jay Doherty. Students learned about building materials 🧱, scheduling 📆, HVAC 🛠️ and even the story about the design elements of the building! Huge thank you to Matt and Jay for spending their time to inspire the next generation of construction professionals.

It’s been a while since we posted, but this needs to be shared. My Construction students pushed through and got the Care Home deck project finished! Dealing with 3 different grades, lots of leveling, and some tricky angles to figure out, but we finished up on the last week of school! Great job guys!

What an amazing week! The first ever PA CTE Construction Camp was a huge success! We had a blast this week making co****le boards with some very talented campers. It was a pleasure sharing my passion for Construction with these campers, now let’s play some co****le!
