Dermott FCCLA attended the 2025 Arkansas FCCLA State Leadership Conference & STAR Events on April 9-10 in Hot Springs! Some of our FCCLA members (Zoei Garner & Jamiya Coffey) had the opportunity to serve as judges again for the STAR Events, and our advisor, Ms. Tironeka Brown, served as a Lead Consultant. Other members participated in the Red Rose Exam and proudly received their Certificates of Completion.

We enjoyed the conference, breakout sessions, College & Career Expo, and the Escape Room activity, which was a great way to build teamwork and connect with other chapters from across the state!

A huge THANK YOU to Ms. Jackie Lowe and Mr. Jared Hawkins for being our chaperones and offering their support wherever it was needed.

As always, we are deeply grateful to our students, parents, school district, Ms. Brown, Ms. Lowe, Mr. Hawkins, Dr. Brown, Supt. Ridgell, Mr. Wilbert, Alderman Chris Akins, and our generous sponsors: Dermott Nursing Home (Platinum), Attorney Don Glover (Gold), Simmons Bank (Silver), and Rev. Charles Graham (Silver) for ensuring that our registration, hotels, meals, and jackets were covered. Special thanks to Mrs. Mary Beth Ivie for making sure we were able to attend and enjoy this amazing experience. We also appreciate the wonderful hospitality from Comfort Inn & Suites and the City of Hot Springs!

It was truly a great experience for everyone involved, and we’re so grateful to have these opportunities to develop and grow as leaders‼️🧡🖤

It’s been a busy and exciting week for our CTE Department!
Our High School FBLA students participated in the 2025 FBLA State Leadership Conference & Competition at the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock, April 7–8. For many, it was their very first time attending and/or competing at the State and High School level!
Although our students didn’t place for Nationals, we are beyond proud of their hard work, dedication, and effort! Great job to Amiah Wimberly & KeYonna Young (Community Service) and Tirah McGehee (Client Services), Namari Jefferson & Caitlyn Bryant (Introduction to Event Planning), and Adrionna Jackson & Katesha Thompson (Hospitality & Event Management). You all represented us well, and you all are still WINNERS in our eyes! 🧡🖤
Our students also had the opportunity to explore the Career Expo and participate in breakout sessions, learning valuable insights about college opportunities while networking with students from across the state.
A huge THANK YOU to our advisor, Ms. Tironeka Brown, for serving as a first-time judge at the State level, and to Ms. Yolonda Watson for being our chaperone and lending a helping hand wherever needed.
We are also grateful to our students, parents, school district, Ms. Brown, Ms. Watson, Dr. Brown, Supt. Ridgell, Mr. Wilbert, Alderman Chris Akins, and our generous sponsors: Dermott Nursing Home (Platinum), Attorney Don Glover (Gold), Simmons Bank (Silver) and Rev. Charles Graham (Silver) for your contributions and donations to make sure our registration, hotels, meals, and jackets were paid.
Special thanks to Mrs. Carole Anderson, Mrs. Sonya Plyler, and Mr. Morgan Ruff for your support in making sure our students could attend and grow from this amazing experience. We also appreciate the incredible hospitality from the Wyndham Hotel and the City of Little Rock!
It was a great experience for everyone involved, and we are so thankful for these opportunities to continue building future leaders‼️🧡🖤

Healthy or Unhealthy!!! Make a decision today. Will you choose a veggie wrap, beef chuck pull nachos, or a beefy quesadilla?

Coach Bolden’s FACS class recently engaged in making informed dietary choices through hands-on culinary activities. With the assistance of Ms. Ebony Broadnax from the FoodCorps program, students prepared veggie wraps, emphasizing healthy eating habits.

Once again, we’re also grateful for the Beef in the Classroom grant, which enabled our FACS class to prepare various delicious beef dishes, including beef chuck pull nachos and beefy quesadillas.

What a fantastic way to kick off Spring Break! Wishing all students, teachers, staff, and faculty a restful and enjoyable break. 🧡🖤

Beefy Week in FACS! 🥩🍽️
Our Dermott FACS class was honored to receive a beef grant last semester, and they are putting it to great use! One of Coach Bolden’s class prepared a delicious spaghetti entrée with toast and a fresh salad, showcasing their cooking skills.
Tomorrow, her other class will keep the creativity going with beef quesadillas and loaded nachos! 🌮🧀

Yesterday, Coach Karla Bolden's FACS class had a fun and educational hands-on experience in the kitchen, as they learned about balancing a healthy breakfast. They prepared homemade butter pancakes, eggs, sausages, and a variety of fresh fruits, with orange juice or fruit juice.
This experience not only taught them valuable cooking skills, but also highlighted the importance of starting the day with a nutritious meal.
Great job, everyone! 👩🏽‍🍳👨🏽‍🍳 🧡🖤

Last week, Coach Karla Bolden’s FACS class had an exciting first hands-on experience making their very own Pico de Gallo! 🍅🧅🌶️

Students worked together at each kitchen station to prepare their fresh and flavorful sauce using chopped tomatoes, onions, and peppers, all seasoned with cilantro and lime juice.

A special thanks to Ms. Ebony Broadnax from the Food Corps Program for providing mini lessons with our students and sharing her knowledge and expertise on nutrients and gardening.

Great job to our students for embracing this fun and educational opportunity! 👩🏽‍🍳👨🏽‍🍳🧡🖤
