Derby Historical Museum

Derby Historical Museum The Derby Historical Museum is open April - October on Saturdays 10 am - 2 pm. It has sixteen rooms of artifacts and displays, plus exhibits in the hallways.

The Derby Historical Museum and Society is dedicated to the historical preservation of Derby, Kansas, and the surrounding area. The nonprofit was founded in 1995 while the building was built in 1923-1924.

Here is the photo from the glass negative that we had donated and then developed a few weeks ago! Justin at the Derby Public Library even made us a colorized version of what the town may have looked like, giving us an even better depiction of the area.
In the photo from around 1910, you can see the intersection of Baltimore and Kay Street from an aerial view. The photographer would have been standing on the grain elevator to capture this angle. This is a neat piece of history that we are glad to add to our collection.

Cool off from the summer heat with Homemade Ice Cream! This Saturday, July 25, the Derby Historical Museum will host a fundraiser, where guests can enjoy homemade ice cream for only $1 per scoop.

In addition, we will have old churns on display, with one running to demonstrate how they work. Vanilla, strawberry, peach and possibly more flavors will be available.
