Transportation is aware of the situation, so you can still ride the bus without your ID. And don’t worry—you will still be able to attend Friday’s dance! We had a special guest visit all of our 6th grade Health & PE classes on Tuesday!

Dr. Ken Petitti, PhD, Professor of Physical Therapy at Wichita State University, came to talk with our 6th grade students about balance, stability, proprioception, and how our bodies work to help us stay balanced!

Dr. Petitti shared information about a research study involving children and adolescents and the specialized testing his team has been conducting. Our 6th grade students learned about the equipment and what participating in the study would look like.

The best part? For the 4th year in a row, interested DNMS 6th graders have the opportunity to participate in this real research study! Students will complete several simple balance activities during their PE class time, and the information collected will contribute to research on balance and stability in youth.

We are so excited to give our students the chance to experience real world research firsthand and see how what we learn in Health & PE connects to the work of university researchers and physical therapy professionals! 💚
