Murphy is back! 🐾

Miss Sreniawski's therapy dog had a full summer of giving back. Murphy spent the season volunteering with the SPCA Paws for Love Program - including a stop at the Hunter's Hope Family and Medical Symposium, where he spent time with children and families living with leukodystrophies. He also paid visits to staff at BOCES and to adults in the dementia respite program at the YMCA. He even had a few portraits made that he's planning to hang in his classroom.

Highland Elementary Kindergarten Orientation! 🦅

We're so excited to welcome our new Kindergarten families to Highland Elementary on Tuesday, September 1, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM as we get ready for an amazing school year ahead!

It is going to be an exciting morning for the whole family. Students will tour the building, meet their teacher, drop off supplies, enjoy a story in the classroom, and practice riding a school bus. Parents and guardians will also have the opportunity to connect directly with Principal Mrs. Politowski, Counselor Mr. Considine, Nurse Mrs. Majkut, our Bus Safety Team, and the PTG to get all your questions answered. Detailed information packets were mailed home today with full details.

While you are out on September 1, you can also stop by the W.T. Hoag Educational Center (42 Sunset Blvd.) for valuable community safety services. The Erie County Sheriff's Office will be on site offering free Operation SAFE CHILD ID cards until 12:30 PM, and the Evans Town Police Department will conduct car seat safety checks until 1:00 PM.

We look forward to greeting our new Kindergarten families on September 1! 💚

🚌 Need Alternate Bus Pickup or Drop-Off for 2026–2027?

As we prepare for the 2026–2027 school year, the Lake Shore Transportation Department has updated its procedure for families who require non-standard pickup or drop-off arrangements for their students.

Please note that this form is strictly for families requesting alternate arrangements, such as childcare or split-schedule stops; if your student uses standard home-to-school transportation, no action is required. The updated form provides dedicated space for multiple alternate stops across the week to keep transit routines clear and consistent.

If your family needs alternate arrangements, please download the fillable PDF form on our website and return it to [email protected] or drop it off at the Transportation Office (8710 N Main Street) by September 1, 2026.

🦅 Happy Independence Day, Lake Shore!

Today, we honor the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. This is a moment to reflect on the principles of liberty and community that shape our nation and our classrooms. We hope our students, families, and staff take time to appreciate the past while looking forward to the future we are building together.

Honoring Juneteenth 💚

Today we observe Juneteenth, a meaningful day in American history that marks the end of slavery in the United States. On June 19, 1865, news of freedom finally reached Galveston, Texas. It is an important time for our community to reflect on our history, learn together, and celebrate freedom.

Please remember that all Lake Shore Central School District buildings are closed today in observance of the holiday. We hope all of our students, staff, and families have a safe and restful long weekend.

Highland Elementary 5th Grade Moving Up Ceremony! 🦅

Our 5th-grade students at Highland Elementary School celebrated a major milestone today as they officially moved up to the middle school! The afternoon was filled with incredible pride, warm memories, and community spirit as our transitioning students took the stage to look back on their wonderful elementary years.

We are so proud of our moving up class and cannot wait to support them as they continue their journey. Way to go, Eagles! 💚

Our kindergarten students at Highland Elementary School brought incredible energy and school pride to the stage today for their moving up ceremony! The highlight of the celebration was a beautiful performance led by our music teacher, Mrs. Faust, which filled the room with smiles.
