🎃 What a night at the Highland Elementary Trunk or Treat!

Our families came out in full costume and the turnout was amazing. Students braved the haunted house bus, painted pumpkins, and gathered for spooky story time with Principal Politowski. And those trunks? Wow.

A huge thank you to the Highland PTG, Highland Hose Vol. Fire Company, North Evans Volunteer Fire Company Inc., Town of Evans Police Department, the Lake Shore Transportation Department and Skiddly Pops. Thank you to every staff member and family who decorated a trunk, donated candy or came out tonight, and to our middle and high school volunteers. And to our staff, thank you for setting up, helping out and cleaning up!

You made it a night to remember!

Eat at Red Robin this Thursday and help the Lake Shore Unified Sports team take the plunge for Special Olympics New York. 🍔

On Thursday, October 22, Red Robin in Orchard Park gives 20% of food sales to Lake Shore's Polar Plunge team. In December, Lake Shore students run into Lake Erie together to support athletes across New York.

How to make your meal count:
Dine in or takeout: mention the Lake Shore fundraiser, or show the flyer (last photo) on your phone.
Ordering online: at redrobin.com/order, pick Orchard Park and add "Fundraisers (To-Go Only)" to your bag first.

The team needs $200 in total sales to get its 20%, so bring friends and please share this post.

Highland Elementary was a sea of orange last Wednesday. 🧡

Students wore orange for Orange Shirt Day, standing with Indigenous children who were sent to residential and boarding schools, and the families still affected today.

To honor the day, Seneca singer Frank Wesaw and Lake Shore High School dancers led students in a Round Dance around the Every Child Matters flag. Seneca dancers followed with a Smoke Dance.

Miss Snyder helped students understand why the day matters, and they carried one message with them: every child matters.

Thank you to everyone who made the morning happen!

Wear Orange on September 30 🧡

On Wednesday, September 30, Lake Shore Central School District joins communities across the country in observing Orange Shirt Day, also known as Every Child Matters Day. The day began in 2013 to honor Indigenous families and communities affected by residential schools, and it's a chance for all of us to show support and understanding of a history that still impacts many families today.

We're asking students, staff, and families to wear orange with us that day. Every child matters, and it's a simple way our whole community can stand together.
