Today we worked with Northwoods Stewardship Center to help collect silver maple seeds. Students went to South Bay WMA/Barton River to locate productive trees with seeds. This is part of a stream bank restoration project around the state to restore riparian zones of coverted agricultural fields. Students collected around 11 gallons of seeds!

We’re saw-milling for our sugarhouse lumber! All of the trees we have been harvesting over the year are being transformed into the building materials for next fall to start the sugarhouse.

We cleaned up in the maple event! Evan and Cooper got second and third and our syrup sample won best in class!
There were six schools and 40 participants for this event!

Day one of Vermont FFA convention! Students participated in the the Spring forestry competition and we accepted our Land Judging team award and Evan got his second place Winter Forestry award today! 🥈

Students got to visit bald hill fish hatchery today. They learned all about the hatchery and the fish they grow there. They even got to stock some large rainbows!

Evan got top ten individually yesterday at our GOL competition!

High school CTE students from around VT competed in a five event game of logging tech school chainsaw precision competition. This event is called spring pole. Students have to release all the tension at the correct point and inches off from their mark results in points off.

Students got to show off their chainsaw skills today at the Game of Logging tech school competition at Bluffside here in Newport! They competed against nine other tech centers from all over the state!

Students got to hangout with their local Game Warden, Chase Reagan today. They saw some furbearer pelts, and learned about the career and its perks and learned about big game law updates.

Welcome NTHS members!

“Skill, Scholarship, Leadership, Honesty, Responsibility, Service, and Citizenship” are the seven attributes of Career & Technical Education's National Technical Honor Society. Tuesday evening NCCC held its first NTHS Induction Ceremony and recognized the Charter Members, honoring the achievement of fifty-one students. Family members, friends, and NCCC staff came together to support and celebrate students, recognize tradition and embrace new opportunities.
