https://youtu.be/vwwTBfaTPas Click on the link to open this video. This was such a fun time with my older piano students in DeQuincy a few years ago. What did they learn in this game song? Anacrusis, or pick up note, incomplete measure, and dotted quarter followed by an eighth note. The game song is , "Long Road of Iron". We didn't plan it but a train came through as we were filming. Fun times! These students were part of some of my small group piano classes. These students were energetic and it was definitely fun each week, probably for me as much as them.

I'm having fun teaching group piano lessons for TAG, an afternoon kids' club at Spurger Methodist Church. There are 2 groups with some wonderful helpers. I'm looking forward to next week already!

This is a singing game for a music reading exercise of 8th note followed by a dotted quarter. And it's a favorite game song, too!

What's the game in piano class today? A 🐊Gator and a 🐸Frog in the singing game, JUMP FROG JUMP! Singing games prepare students to read and play the music after they'd played the game. And, students don't mind the repetition because that means they get to have another turn!
