Students from Mrs. LaVergne’s Nutrition & Foods class and others participated in the DHS Rice Cook Off this past Wednesday. While the contest was open to all students, it was required for the class.
This project allows students to be creative, learn to be health conscious, and strive for excellence. Students work with technology, practice food safety, and connect with family in the home kitchen.
Kirah Guillory’s dish won 1st place and will move on to the next level of competition at the SWLA 28th Annual Great Rice Cook-Off Contest. Second place was Adrian Santostasi, and third place was Jaycee Cole. Eddie Powers won the Heart Healthy award.
Congratulations go out to all students who participated. We would also like to thank our judges and sponsors. Their support was key to the success of the event.
