This is what a love of reading looks like at Deputy!

Our teachers work hard to instill a love of reading in our students, which is why Book Blast was such a perfect fundraiser for Deputy.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our parents and community, EVERY student at Deputy received at least TWO new books through Book Blast!

Hunter was so excited about his new books that he brought one to lunch so he could keep reading!

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who supported Book Blast and helped put books into the hands of every Deputy Panther. 🐾

We did it again—100% attendance!

Our students and families are amazing! Thank you, parents and guardians, for making school attendance a priority and helping our Panthers arrive ready to learn each day.

Of course, when every Panther is present, there is only one way to celebrate, the Chicken Dance! 🐔 Just look at these moves!

Be proud. Be present. Be a Panther! 🐾

Each Monday morning, we draw a name from every classroom’s reading basket. Students earn entries by working hard to meet the reading goals set by their teachers. Each winner receives a special coin to choose a book from our book vending machine!

So far this year, our Panthers have already read an incredible 1,754,850 words! They are working toward beating last year’s total of 14,366,158 words, and they are well on their way!

Congratulations to this week’s book winners! Keep reading, Panthers!

Learning Through LEGO! Mrs. McVey’s class teamed up with our STEM coach, Mrs. Cohen, to explore the exciting world of programming!

Students first learned what a loop is and how programmers use loops to repeat actions. Then, working with partners, they created programs that made their LEGO creations move in a loop. Once they were successful, they changed the code to adjust the speed and frequency of each loop.

Let’s just say…there were a few LEGO rides that I definitely would not have wanted to be on!😂 What a fun way to build creativity, collaboration, problem-solving, and coding skills!
