In an effort to connect with my sangha (community) near and far in regards to yoga!

So, you wanna be in community.
What does that mean?
What does it take?

I’ve been sitting with what true community means and looks like. I used to think it just meant showing up, but I’ve come to find that it’s a small piece of the whole.

I’ve learned that community is not saying yes OR no all of the time. It requires boundaries, awareness and discernment. If I show up with an empty cup, who am I really serving? The savior “yes” serves no one. Saying no requires assessment of your why. Self-preservation is important and it can also sever community. Showing up even if you don’t want to - when it’s hard and you’d rather just stay at home alone - is the participatory act of community. It’s taking a moment to take a deep breath and realizing when your presence matters. It’s truly a fine dance between knowing when a yes or a no is merited.

I’ve learned that to be a part of a village, you have to be willing to be a villager. That means getting your hands and heart involved. Showing up is half the battle, but what do you actually do when you’re there. How do you listen? Interact? Contribute? Are you willing to put your thoughts and feelings into action?

Community is Care. Care in every sense of the word. Care for each other. Care for yourself. Care for the cause, the collective, the thing that is bigger than you or me, but is all of us.

It is gentle, yet firm. Community is not about coddling, but rather accountability. It should hold space for all of us to be right, wrong, confused, curious. A space where norms are formed and storms are weathered - together.

It’s asking for your needs and providing all the same. It’s safe, for every member. It is trust. It is fluctuation. It’s adaptive, re/generative, resilient, reliable.

Ultimately, Community takes work.
It is an art.
It takes heart-centeredness.
It is a responsibility if you so choose.
So, you wanna be in community?
Take time to think, feel and commit.

It’s here, it’s happening. Finally turning dreams into plans, putting plans into action. This has been a long time coming & a heartfelt passion project that we’ve been birthing together. and are coming together in a 3 part series of sisterhood, connection and intention.

Join us October 1st from 7-9pm for an evening of communion. We will create a space that reminds us of the power of togetherness, the safety and holiness of community and our ability to reclaim our sovereignty as a collective. The night will include meditation, journaling, and intro to Human Design, altar building & candle burning ritual, movement and a sound bath. We will open and close in circle with opportunities to connection with your fellow women & share anything on your heart. We want to bring the sacredness of women in circle ~ so please reach out with any questions and find more information at the link in my bio. We can’t wait to hold you in this space with us!

Another retreat in the books.
Another opportunity to indulge in culture, connection, celebration and movement. I’m always so amazed and moved by what can happen when strangers and friends alike come together with an open heart & mind. I don’t think I could have asked for a better group! There was so much laughter, love and genuine interaction this past week. We moved, we breathed, we wrote, we laughed, we cooked, we danced, we explored, we opened up. It was a truly magical moment in the Mediterranean.

I’m honored that invited me to co-facilitate this retreat with her. Although she has the ability to do everything all by herself (with a smile and grace at that), she allowed me to step in and share my knowledge, energy and love with everyone. Thank you a million times over for bringing me along on a journey that has inevitably become a core memory.

Thank you to for hosting us and having such a beautiful space for us to connect. Thank you, thank you to Spyro, our beloved chef and kind heart from - you nourished us so beautifully in so many ways. Thank you to all who helped bring this vision to life and contributed to its success and beauty. Yamas!

The Body - our most tangible and Earthbound part of the human experience.

This vessel which carries us through this human experience. That which houses our mind, emotions & Soul. It is, in my opinion, the first touchstone of the yoga practice. Connecting to body & learning to heal ourselves through that connection, awareness, has been a life changing approach to dealing with trauma and deepening the other, more ethereal parts of my yoga practice. I find a more intimate relationship with my body and all it’s inner / outer workings has allowed me to then take a further dive into consciousness, meditation, pranayama & beyond.

My teachings and movement are motivated by this need for us to heal ourselves through the body - psyche & soul aside - a more somatic and intuitive approach which allows us to create a relationship to our bodies as a foundation to our practices & life in general.

Join me in-studio to find bodily connection, somatic foundations & self-exploration/discovery 💫

In the face of rejection, how do you react? It’s tempting to recoil and allow the false narratives of self doubt and belittlement to take over. The harder, more expansive alternative is to stay wide open. Choosing to acknowledge your strengths, your power, your potential in the midst of failure is hard. But we must make space for failure in life. There is growth and opportunity within it. It’s a chance to change direction if necessary, to try again if desired, to identify more things about yourself, to grow, shift, adapt.

Most importantly, it’s a chance to show yourself grace & compassion. It’s a moment, that will pass, where you can learn to love yourself a bit more and choose to see yourself as the mighty and powerful self that you surely are. It’s a time to have trust. Trusting in the process, trusting in the universal flow - trusting that what is meant to be will give way & you will claim it. If I know anything in life, it’s that things unfold exactly as they’re supposed to - even if in the moment it’s unfolding in a heartbreaking & revealing way that makes you uncomfortable or uneasy. Trust that. & so I choose to keep an open heart, mind & body as I continue to navigate the new chapters of my life. I choose to stay in my power & let those narratives that do not serve me, go. I choose me. With grace & compassion & trust.

I invite what is meant for me.
I receive what is meant for me.
I deserve what is meant for me.
All in the Universe’s time - and with hard work & determination. It will come.

Today is the 8 year anniversary of one of the most transformative things I’ve ever done.

Yoga has been (and continues to be) the anchor of my life. Learning to turn inward and heal from the inside out has been revelatory. Learning to sit with and acknowledge myself - the good, bad, shadow & light, all that makes me, me - is so powerful. Learning to use movement as medicine and love my body through all parts of life - a game changer.

I am so grateful to have this practice in my life & I could probably write a book at this point about what I’ve learned. The journey never ends and I’m still sharing this practice with people. I am so blessed!

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this journey - my teachers, my students, my soulmates, my spiritual guides, my ancestors, thousands of years of knowledge being passed down to get to me.

Here’s to many more years of learning, growing & sharing. 💖

“To be fully alive is to act…
I understand action to be any way that we can co-create reality with other beings and the Spirit…
Action, like a sacrament, is the visible form of an invisible spirit. But as we act, we not only express what is in us and help give shape to the world; we also receive what is outside us, and reshape our inner selves.” - Parker Palmer, “The Active Life: Wisdom for Work, Creativity & Caring”

Commitment to a spiritual life requires engagement. Action. It is a deeply rooted need & desire, alike, to unify the way we think with the way we act. It is Truth in walking-talking form. It requires conscious practice, dedication, willingness. It is “more than a good book or a restful retreat” as bell hooks put it. To live a spiritual life is the acknowledgment of the eternal principle that love is everything - our guide, our path & our final destination. We cannot embrace love without Spirit, we cannot live in our spiritual truth without Love.

I’ve been planting seeds of love everywhere I go lately. Most specifically in my Love center - my heart space. I’ve allowed each moment, each breath, each interaction to act like water. Watering, nourishing, aiding the growth of Love. I hope to wake up one day and find that the only thing surrounding me - us - is love. Pure & potent, unfiltered & raw.

Join me on the mat as I continue to unveil and rediscover True Love - within and around us all.
