A statement from the PCA staff on the impact of overturning Roe v. Wade.
“Today is a difficult and emotional day for many, and we recognize that no words we can offer will be perfect. Survivors of interpersonal violence will be impacted by the Supreme Court’s decision today to overturn Roe v. Wade. Reproductive coercion is a common form of manipulation and abuse, and we know that things like forced pregnancies make it exceptionally more difficult for survivors to leave abusive relationships. Survivors of sexual violence will face increased medical complications and prolonged trauma. Like most harmful policies created in this system, we know this will disproportionately impact BIPOC communities; the PCA will continue to focus our efforts on anti-racist and medically accurate provisions of care. This decision may have left you feeling confused, distrustful, and afraid. If you need support, please contact our 24/7 helpline at 303-556-2255.”
