What makes a house a home? 🏡✨ At The Goddard School, we believe it's more than just the walls—it’s about the love, safety, and belonging children feel every day.

All of our students will build houses using blocks or other materials this week. The preschooler students will then compare the similarities and differences of the homes they've created. The PreK students will expand on this further by learning about and comparing more types of homes, such as bird nests.

Kindergarten readiness can show up in everyday moments, not just big milestones. A few signals to notice:

1. They’re building confidence to try things independently. Examples: walking into a room first, asking for help, or giving something new a try.

2. They’re starting to recognize the letters in their name, even if they’re not reading just yet.

3. They’re showing care and responsibility at home. This could include things like helping pack a bag, feeding a pet, putting away toys, or getting through part of their routine with a little more ease.

Every child grows at their own pace - and readiness looks different for every family. Their preschool teachers can be a great partner in noticing strengths, celebrating progress, and helping you think through what comes next.
