To help our students get excited about the 2026 Winter Olympics, we held a staff Olympics last week. Students laughed and cheered teachers and staff as they competed to find out:
• Who can hula hoop the longest
• Which relay team can scoot on chairs the fastest and score a hockey goal
• While blindfolded, who was best at listening to the students' cheers directing them to find a hidden snowball
Ask your student about their favorite event and enjoy the 2026 Winter Games!

Our K-2 students celebrated the 100th day of school this week! Building was one of the activities we used to help them understand the concept of 100. This was a concrete, hands-on visual for the number 100. It also promoted STEM skills, reinforced place value and encouraged creative and problem-solving skills.

Last week, our students participated in a mock voting for the Caldecott Award in children’s literature. They learned more about criteria for the award, which is given annually to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children. Students participated in thoughtful discussions about quality of illustrations, visual storytelling, and thoughtful decision-making. "Moon Song," Don't Trust Fish," and "Let's Be Bees," received the most votes by our students.

Today we took our students to the Denver Museum of Nature & Science to see the Brick Planet and the Secret World of Elephants exhibits. It was amazing to explore the planet’s ecosystems through colorful Lego® bricks! Ask your student how elephants hear through their feet. We learned that and many other interesting things about pachyderms today too.
