To the Extraordinary Denver East High School Class of 1974
Dear Classmates,
As I reflect upon the remarkable journey we have shared, my heart overflows with gratitude. More than fifty years have passed since we walked the halls of Denver East High School together, yet the bond we forged has remained steadfast through every season of life.
We have celebrated weddings, births, grandchildren, retirements, and countless milestones. We have also stood beside one another through seasons of grief, loss, illness, and heartbreak. Across the years, we have proven that true friendship is not measured by distance or time, but by love, faithfulness, compassion, and the willingness to lift one another when life becomes heavy.
I cannot begin to express how proud and humbled I am to be a part of such an extraordinary class. Each message of encouragement, every prayer offered, every shared memory, every expression of sympathy, and every joyful celebration has woven together a beautiful tapestry of lifelong friendship. We are more than classmates—we are family.
The Scriptures remind us:
“A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.” — Proverbs 17:17
And again,
“How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” — Psalm 133:1
Those verses have become the story of the Denver East High School Class of 1974.
As we prepare to gather once again for our “Cheers to 70 Years” celebration, my heart is filled with hope and joyful anticipation. What a blessing it is to reach this milestone together. Every laugh line tells a story. Every gray hair is a testimony of God’s sustaining grace. Every reunion is another reminder that friendships rooted in kindness and love can truly stand the test of time.
May the Lord continue to bless each of you and your families with good health, renewed strength, abundant joy, and hearts filled with peace. May He prosper the work of your hands, surround you with His unfailing love, and grant us many more opportunities to gather, laugh, embrace, and create new memories together.
As Moses proclaimed over God’s people:
“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.” — Numbers 6:24–26
It is my sincere prayer that God’s favor will continue to rest upon each of us.
Until we meet again, know that each of you holds a cherished place in my heart.
Here’s to seventy remarkable years, treasured memories, enduring friendships, and the promise of many more blessings still to come.
With heartfelt gratitude, admiration, and brotherly love,
Dr. Thomas D. “Buster” Bouknight
A Prayer of Thanksgiving
Heavenly Father,
With grateful hearts, we pause to thank You for the precious gift of friendship that has endured for more than half a century. Thank You for the lives represented by the Denver East High School Class of 1974. Through every joy and every sorrow, every triumph and every trial, You have remained faithful, carrying us with Your everlasting love.
Lord, thank You for the laughter that has brightened our days, for the tears we have shared that drew us closer together, and for the compassion that has comforted us when words alone could not heal. Thank You for every reunion, every phone call, every prayer, every encouraging message, and every act of kindness that has reminded us we never walk alone.
As we gather to celebrate seventy years of life, we recognize that every breath is a gift from You. May this reunion be filled with joyful embraces, renewed friendships, precious memories, and hearts overflowing with thanksgiving.
Bless every classmate and every family represented. Grant strength to those who are weary, healing to those who are ill, comfort to those who grieve, hope to those facing uncertainty, and peace that surpasses all understanding. Prosper them in every good work, surround them with Your favor as with a shield, and let Your light continue to shine upon each of our lives.
May we continue to encourage one another, pray for one another, and love one another as Christ has loved us. And if it is Your will, bless us with many more opportunities to gather in health, happiness, and fellowship.
We thank You for the beautiful legacy of the Class of 1974, and we give You all the glory for sustaining us through these seventy remarkable years.
In the precious name of GOD The FATHER, we pray.
Amen.
