NCA's Youth Advisory Council (YAC) joined a community cleanup in Clayton this weekend, helping care for the neighborhood and the shared spaces we all enjoy🌱🌏

Through experiences like these, YAC is helping young people develop not only a sense of belonging within the group, but also a sense of responsibility, ownership, and pride in the communities spaces they're part of💚

Young people aren’t just inheriting the future, at NCA, they're taking on leadership roles to help in shaping it🌱

Some of our new YAC recruits recently joined Victor at a Youth Climate Action community meeting to learn how youth leaders can turn their ideas into action!

As YAC explores their own climate action project proposal, we’re excited to see them create more opportunities to learn, lead, and imagine a more sustainable future for themselves, their peers, and the community💚🫶🏽

This summer, Clayton Community Days brought us two days of celebration, each a unique reflection of the kind of community NCA is working to build🌻

We're doing this by prioritizing local BIPOC+ artists, reinvesting in Denver's historically underinvested neighbourhoods, and connecting our Youth Advisory Council (YAC) with new community leadership experiences!

A special thanks to everyone who came out and joined us! We're so grateful for this time spent celebrating the artists, musicians, youth, and small businesses that make our community so vibrant and joyful❤️🧡💚

We celebrated the end of the Youth Advisory Council’s first year with a day centered on youth mental health, belonging, and community at Beat the Bomb!🫟

This year, YAC leaders gained paid experience planning events, building professional communication skills, working with trusted mentors, and representing youth voices with community partners all across Denver🙌

Now, YAC is open for new recruits! Local youth can access paid work, mentorship, leadership experience, and new community connections.

NCA celebrated the one-year mark of our Youth Advisory Council with a special continuation ceremony for our founding cohort🎉

Our community came together to share stories, celebrate their growth, and recognize each other’s strengths🙌🏽 YAC leaders reflected on the first year, sharing how they’ve grown in confidence, found a strong sense of belonging, and started seeing themselves as leaders.

We’re incredibly proud of this group and everything they’ve brought to NCA❤️💚🧡

It is such an honor to be a fellow at the 2026 Colorado Health Foundation Symposium, representing New Cottage Arts and the work we do to bring accessible arts and music programming, paid leadership opportunities to youth throughout Denver.

So much gratitude to the CHF team for the collective wellness they are fostering this week.

I can't fully capture the impacts of engaging, learning from, and connecting with community leaders, visionaries, and human rights figureheads from all across CO and beyond.

The sheer amount of wisdom, wonder, and power embodied by the individuals gathered here is not only inspirational, but deeply restorative.

I am hopeful for the future we are co-creating, and filled with a sense of renewal for the work ahead.

Thank you to everyone who supported the Sacred Voices Poetry fundraiser! 🍋🎶

It was such a beautiful afternoon of community connection, featuring some incredibly powerful performances from the voices of local poets, neighbors, and members of NCA's Youth Advisory Council🫶🏽

In times like these, showing up for one another matters. Every shared story, performance, and conversation strengthens our community.

We're looking forward to our next collaboration, the New Cottage Arts × Sacred Voices Open Mic Takeover on September 11th. We hope to see you there!

We're NCA!🎨🎶

New Cottage Arts is a Denver nonprofit creating free, community-centered arts experiences where young people build creativity, confidence, belonging, and shape their communities.

What we do:

✅ Accessible, year-round visual art and music programs.
✅ Paid youth leadership positions through our Youth Advisory Council.
✅ Creative Lab summer camps centered on storytelling and self-expression.
✅ Workshops led by local artists and mentors.
✅ Free community events uplifting youth, artists, and small businesses.

Since 2019, New Cottage Arts has worked alongside local youth, families, schools, artists, and neighborhood partners to make creative opportunities more accessible across Denver.

Our programs are rooted in hands-on making, performance, storytelling, mentorship, and community leadership🌱

We support young people with the tools and opportunities to explore their identities, strengthen their voices, build meaningful relationships, and shape the future of their communities.

There is no New Cottage Arts without young people leading alongside us🙌🏽
