Three Friends

Forty years ago, I drew the picture in this photo and gave it to Michael, one of the “three friends” in the drawing. Michael and I recently reconnected on Facebook and I was blown away when he sent me a photo of the original drawing, which he’s kept framed for the last forty years.

Isn't that wild?

I’d love to bring that story to life for your school—either in person or virtually. During my author visit, I read the book, share the true story of how it came to be, and talk with students about the importance of kindness, creativity, and celebrating each other’s differences.
