A little rainy day never slows down the play! When it rains in Colorado, you can't skip the chance to splash in the puddles 😍

Child-led outdoor play is an integral component of Wonder of Learning, and a special part of each day at The Goddard School. Play within the exterior learning environment sets the stage for children to be able to experience appropriate risk and failure in their play, to practice lifelong skills like communicating their ideas, feelings and struggles, thinking critically about how to reach their goals, collaborating with peers to create games and establish rules, and most importantly,
having fun! Time spent outdoors also helps to reduce hyperactivity, increase creativity and imaginative thinking, improve executive function, promote healthy development and physical fitness, and lower stress levels in children and adults.

This week's inquiry question: What is a home?

Goddard's Wonder of Learning Curriculum spans across 12 child-led units with a new inquiry question each week. We are currently in week 2 of Unit 2: Exploring Relationships. This week, students have answered the question 'What is a home?' through dramatic play, music, and creating their own versions of their homes with paper crafts.

This unit will provide an opportunity to begin strengthening social-emotional skills as your child investigates similarities, celebrate differences, and have dialogue about their families or communities. Next week's inquiry question is 'How do families celebrate?' and we can't wait to see what our little learners do next!

Happy Spooky Season! Our annual Trunk or Treat event is right around the corner, and we would love YOUR trunk to be a part of it!

Sign up at the table by the gym by adding your name to a car and picking a spot!

Trunk or Treat will be held on the afternoon of Friday October 30th in our school parking lot. We will have games, music, costumes, and of course, CANDY! We hope to see you there 🎃

Thank you to everyone who participated in our partnership with Make-A-Wish Colorado during Wish Week!

Because of your donations, we were able to contribute to team Goddard, who altogether raised $27,881 to help make wishes come true!

To celebrate, we have decorated the lobby with Disney and Minnie Mouse decorations in honor of our wish kid Struen! Make sure to stop by for a quick photo-op this afternoon at pick up!

Kindergarten readiness can show up in everyday moments, not just big milestones. A few signals to notice:

1. They’re building confidence to try things independently. Examples: walking into a room first, asking for help, or giving something new a try.

2. They’re starting to recognize the letters in their name, even if they’re not reading just yet.

3. They’re showing care and responsibility at home. This could include things like helping pack a bag, feeding a pet, putting away toys, or getting through part of their routine with a little more ease.

Every child grows at their own pace - and readiness looks different for every family. Their preschool teachers can be a great partner in noticing strengths, celebrating progress, and helping you think through what comes next.
