It’s not about what you’re doing.
It’s about who you’re being.
That’s the lesson I keep living.
What will happen, will happen.
What get to choose is who I am while it’s happening.
I’ve always been proud of my variety and inconsistency. It’s the spice in my sriracha. 🤣 But maybe what I used to see as inconsistency wasn’t actually that random.
I’ve lived long enough now to recognize the rhythm.
I’ve done a lot of different things but how I do those things is often really similar. I like to inspire, to uplift, to build people… I also can be brutally straightforward when I see someone drifting from their best self. I don’t hold back… not my love, my fear, my intensity, my weird… whatever is real is out there for all to see. These things have become the samskaras I have chosen or unintentionally written on the record of my life.
The seasons where I build and the ones where I soften. The moments I reach outward and the ones I return home. The things I shed, the things I find again, and the ways of being I keep coming back to.
Perhaps midlife isn’t about finally figuring out exactly who you are.
It’s recognizing your own rhythms well enough to trust them.
