Celebrating an Incredible Year & Honoring Staff
As we prepare for another exciting school year, we have also been reflecting on the many moments that made last year so special.
Together, our Newlon community celebrated learning and culture through events such as Día de los Mu***os, Kermes, Literacy Night, our CMAS Celebration, musical performances, Young Chautauqua (Living Wax Museum), and so many other experiences that brought our students, families, and staff together. These opportunities reflect our commitment to educating the whole child by nurturing curiosity, creativity, culture, and community alongside strong academic achievement.
As we look ahead, we also want to take a moment to recognize several extraordinary educators whose impact on Newlon will be felt for years to come.
Ms. Jani leaves behind a legacy of literacy, family engagement, and collaboration. Her leadership in organizing Literacy Night strengthened partnerships between home and school, while her work with Family and Community Engagement connected families with valuable resources. She also played an important role in supporting the implementation of our new writing curriculum. Her passion for students and families has enriched our entire school community.
Ms. Kira generously shared her expertise in multilingual education, helping teachers strengthen instruction for students learning English while also supporting mathematics instruction across our school. Her collaborative spirit and commitment to equity have helped ensure that every student has greater opportunities to succeed.
Mr. Galvan consistently inspired students by making learning meaningful, engaging, and memorable. Whether organizing our schoolwide Día de los Mu***os celebration, creating our Winter Concert program, providing free after-school tutoring, or bringing Colorado history to life through Young Chautauqua, he showed students that learning extends far beyond the pages of a textbook. His thoughtful integration of the arts into literacy, history, and mathematics encouraged students to think creatively, build confidence, and discover new passions.
We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Hammock, whose kindness, patience, and unwavering compassion helped countless first graders grow academically, socially, and emotionally. She created a classroom where children felt safe, loved, and inspired to learn each day.
Finally, we celebrate our incredible school psychologist, Ms. Johnson, who will continue serving students and families in a new educational setting. Her compassion, advocacy, and dedication have made a lasting difference in the lives of so many children and families. Her steady presence and genuine care will be deeply missed.
What these remarkable educators all shared was a willingness to serve beyond their classrooms and duties. They volunteered their time, supported colleagues, championed students, and helped make Newlon a stronger, more caring school community.
While we are excited for the opportunities that await each of them, their absence will undoubtedly be felt throughout our halls. They have each left a lasting mark on Newlon, and we are incredibly grateful for the countless lives they have touched.
Please join us in thanking Ms. Jani, Ms. Kira, Mr. Galvan, Ms. Hammock, and Ms. Johnson for their dedication, compassion, and service. We wish each of them every success and happiness as they begin this exciting new chapter. Once a Newlon Eagle, always a part of the Newlon family.
