Yesterday, I went on a 2-hour hike with my son.
After the busyness of Easter, I was tempted to just hole up downstairs at home, stare at my phone, and enter into full hermit mode.
But I know that spending time with family in nature would restore and refresh me.
So, my son and I set out in the morning with our walking sticks.
We explored Cherry Creek (naming spots along the way with terms like Fork Island or Yellow Flag Lookout), eventually swinging by a coffee shop on the way home to wait out the brief hailstorm that afternoon.
Our outing reminded me of three things:
1. A return requires an investment.
Every time I expend energy—whether with a quick walk or a workout at the gym—I get a return of energy for the rest of my day on that initial effort I put in.
2. Trailblazing is adventurous, but eventually gets old.
My son was excited to go “off-trail,” and it reminded me of my journey as a musician.
I’m grateful for all I’ve learned as I’ve carved out my own path, but with every passing year, I’m looking for proven methods that will shortcut and accelerate my own efforts.
Simple and sustainable is the name of the game.
3. The journey is more fun with companions.
As an introvert, I get recharged by solo time. But with him joining me, I noticed things I would have otherwise missed, and we connected as family after a long work week.
These three lessons are all principles of my Thriving Artist Method that I use with my 1-on-1 coaching clients.
Now, you have a choice to take these principles and try to implement them on your own without the support of others.
Or, if you know you want accountability from a band of other creatives…
Then I'd love for you to consider joining us in The Creative Catalyst community.
In this community, you’ll get the tools I use daily, all distilled into a simple experience that helps you unlock predictable power in 6 weeks or less…
