CSI is starting its third decade, and we're excited to share our 2026-2029 Strategic Plan! This plan sets our direction for the next three years and is grounded in four core values and a clear theory of action.

The plan came together with input from CSI's Board, staff, and the field, and we had support from the National Charter Schools Institute along the way.

We're grateful for everyone who helped shape this plan, and we're energized for the work ahead.

🍎 A successful school year starts with preparation!

Last week, the Colorado Charter School Institute (CSI) hosted its annual Back-to-School Training for schools participating in the CSI School Food Authority (SFA) at Pinnacle Charter School in Federal Heights.

85 school nutrition professionals spent the day learning about food safety, civil rights, food allergy management, procurement, and meal components. Attendees also connected with local vendors during a food expo featuring products and samples for schools with self-prep kitchens.

📣 We're excited to announce the launch of CSI's 2026-2029 Strategic Plan.

Today, CSI serves as a model authorizer for over 50 public charter schools and more than 20,000 students across Colorado!

This new strategic plan builds on that foundation, charting a path forward that balances high expectations with strong support for innovation, school quality, operational effectiveness, and student success. Above all, it keeps students at the center of every decision.

Developed over several months in partnership with the CSI Board, staff, school leaders, and the National Charter Schools Institute (NCSI), this plan reflects where we've been and where we're headed.

This week, CSI's Executive Director, Terry Croy Lewis, spoke at the ribbon cutting for the new Gymnasium, Fine Arts, and Science Laboratory Building at Ascent Classical Academy of Douglas County. ⭐

“Unlike many traditional public schools, charter schools must work incredibly hard to secure and finance the spaces where students learn. This beautiful addition and renovation did not happen overnight. It is the result of years of vision, perseverance, collaboration, and the unwavering commitment of countless people.”

Congratulations to High Point Academy & Colorado Early Colleges Fort Collins for receiving BEST grants from the Colorado State Board of Education!

High Point is receiving $7.5M for facility upgrades including HVAC, roof, and security improvements. CEC Fort Collins is getting ~$1M for HVAC and elevator replacement.

“These BEST grants represent an investment in students and communities across Colorado,” said Colorado Education Commissioner Susana Córdova. “From rural districts to charter schools and BOCES, these projects will help create learning environments that are safer, more modern, and better equipped to support student success for years to come.”
