Bikeway Design Charrette
April 2nd, 2022
9am - 3pm
Overview:
The WTS student chapter is partnering with Parsons and DOTI to host a day-long design charette on the S Tejon Street Bikeway project. While this planning process is close to completion students will have the opportunity to review this real world project and provide additional critique and concepts to solve challenging street design problems. Find out more about the project https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1dwknRbPbI-eGS1sUsQoQqcc__R966Q4g
Design Problem:
The Tejon Bikeway will be upgraded to a protected bike lane due to increased traffic volume and speeds. However, the upgrade requires accommodating school drop off and pick up in the stretch between x and y street. Students will be providing design alternatives to solve for these challenges. This will include reviewing the collected traffic data, school pick up and drop off scenarios, and community comments to determine the best street design for the corridor.
This is an opportunity to work alongside professional planners on a real-world project. Sign up here! https://forms.gle/E4tivjGqcJiqt9oaA
Lunch and snacks will be provided. Further details about meeting location and schedule for the day will be provided after you sign up.
