I’m so grateful to still be learning and teaching at 69! 22 years ago I almost died from a staph infection. The pics below help explain why I am so excited.
This past Wednesday I subbed for Tess Sachez and taught at Colorado Movement Lab for a total of 5.75 hours of teaching ❤️, relatively pain free. I believe God (or is it the universe?) wants me to continue to work with children 🙏.
The 1st pics are 3 months post op-from 2004 - after 7 operations to save my foot and leg. The big lump is 1/3 of my abdominus re**us transplanted onto my ankle because my foot would not pump blood north and south. And the last pic is 6 weeks post op after surgery #14 on my left foot and surgery 1 on my right.
Every time I teach I feel so much joy and gratitude for still being in the dance studio. Looking forward to teaching summer intensives even more now that my feet are almost pain free.

Cleaning out the basement, I found the only picture of my grandma, Jeanette Noel, from the Brussels Opera, post WWI. It is the only one that survived her immigration to the US before WWII.
The time has come when both my feet are betraying my love of hiking and teaching ballet. Two years ago I could hike close to 8 miles, now 3 seems to be my limit. I could releve on my right foot to my hearts content, but now there is nerve pain caused from Morton’s neuroma and some days releve is not a happening thing.😢
BUT, Dr Ng thinks he can fix it, so on Oct 22 I am having surgery #14 on my left foot and #1 on the right. They are supposedly straightforward, common procedures. The hope is that I can teach at least another 10+years and keep hiking in the mountains🙏.
Briefly, 22 years ago a complex staph infection almost took my left leg and my life. I prayed and asked God for help, I promised Him that if He let me keep my leg I would not stop teaching the children. He saved my leg, and now I intend to keep my promise.🙏💕
Had a blast yesterday and this morning teaching 8-11 year olds at Colorado Movement Lab and Doral Academy! They felt safe enough in class to play with me in ballet! Not all adolescents are able to jump into my way of teaching, I don’t shy away from admitting I am eccentric and a bit of a Tigger when I teach. My energy is hopefully contagious!
Without the ability to demonstrate full out , this week I used small stuffed animals to give the dancers a tactile sense of getting their arms to 1st when they turn. They never want to drop their critter!!! So they hold on tightly to their ‘critter’ with one hand in the preparation and both hands grab the bunny as they turn😊.Creates a lovely 1st position on pirouettes! Better pirouettes and giggles make it all so heart warming!❤️
With my left ankle fused I have taught myself creative ways to teach jumps. This video is from Park Hill Dance Academy teaching more efficient glissades.

Had a wonderful week at Aspire Dance teaching young dancers who are excited to learn. It was so fun to take awvwral concepts like tendu fondue and build on ‘how’ it is used for steps from tombe pas de bouree for the young ones to brizes for the older dancers.
And for my alums….Fluffy was a big hit😃
Excited to be heading to California to teach for Aspire Dance’s summer intensive. Alexia Liavas has a great dance studio
