It's DPS Classified Employee Recognition Week (Oct. 5–9), and we’re giving a huge shoutout to the staff providing the vital operational support our schools rely on every day. 🚌By driving buses, preparing meals, maintaining facilities, supporting libraries, managing offices, and fixing tech, they make learning possible!🖥️ Thank you for your dedication, care, and hard work. 🏆Two more DPS schools were just named National Banner Unified Champion Schools by Special Olympics!

🎉 Congrats to Sabin World Elementary School and Denver North High School! This award honors schools that meet top national standards for inclusion, bringing students with and without disabilities together through Unified Sports and student leadership.

Extra shoutout to Sabin for becoming the first DPS elementary school to earn a banner! What a great way to celebrate National Disability Awareness Month. 💙

During an especially intense summer of construction and repairs, he has worked tirelessly to ensure the building is ready to welcome students back into a safe, clean, and welcoming environment. 🏈From calling plays on the field to directing them on stage, Manual High’s Ben Butler proves that great coaching doesn’t stop at sports. 🎭

For 16 years, he’s balanced head football coach duties with running the school’s theater program, encouraging students to step out of their comfort zones and try both. This National Coaches Day, we’re celebrating leaders like Coach Butler, whose passionate approach gives students the confidence to discover talents they never knew they had.🙌

⭐️Now that’s how you kick off Back-to-School Night! ⚽

Players from the Colorado Rapids and Denver Summit FC stopped by Trevista at Horace Mann to break in their new mini soccer pitch, donated by Vita Coco and the U.S. Soccer Foundation. It’s more than just a field, it’s a safe, vibrant space where our students can discover new passions, stay active, and bring the whole community together.

🙌Time for our weekly LOD award, where we celebrate staff Living Our DPS values every single day! This week's spotlight goes to Rachel Payne who lives out integrity even in the middle of a crisis.

“As the Executive Director of Operations Service Delivery, Rachel Payne encounters some of the most challenging crises in the district such as flooding buildings, power outages, and the most severe school safety issues. She leads her team to navigate and solve these situations with poise, calm, and competence while maintaining strict confidentiality. Despite the seriousness of her job, she also creates a positive work environment by delivering notes of gratitude, showing care toward others, and especially by her infectious laugh pervading all of her team meetings. She’s the steady guide of the principal calls and ensures that school leaders always get the answers they need. Rachel is an excellent colleague and role model for the district.”
