🌈This month we are honoring a handful of DPS staff for their dedication to creating welcoming and inclusive spaces, either as + community members or allies to our communities. 🏳️‍🌈Our first shout out is for Corey Wiggins who is an incredible sponsor and role model for LGBTQ+ students at East. He is a wonderful leader who lives the value of students first. Mr. Wiggins creates a QSA space where students lead, learn LGBTQ+ history, advocate for themselves, laugh a lot, and keep it fierce! 🙌 Thank you, Corey!

Dear DPS Community,
The Denver Public Schools Board of Education wants your input. We are currently working on the Executive Limitations 18 (EL-18) School Consolidation and Closure policy and have released a draft. This policy will provide Superintendent Dr. Marrero with clear direction as we consider the impacts of declining enrollment.

DPS will host three virtual community meetings on Thursday, June 6, via Zoom.
The first meeting will be held from 8-9 a.m.
The second meeting will be held from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
The third meeting will be held from 7-8 p.m.

In addition to the virtual meetings, we are providing a survey to solicit information from the community on the drafted policy. If you were unable to attend any of the meetings, we still encourage you to please complete the survey in the link below by the end of the day on Tuesday, June 11.

All information can be found on the DPS Declining Enrollment webpage and the DPS website homepage on the day of the events- https://www.dpsk12.org/page/declining-enrollment

If you have questions related to board redistricting, please email [email protected].

🌈Happy !🏳️‍🌈 This month of celebration and advocacy began after the 1969 Stonewall riots and continues today to ensure that + identity is visible, joyful and bold. DPS is committed to affirming and amplifying the voices of our LGBTQ+ community members and will continue working toward LGBTQ+ equity.❤️ Special thank you to all our wonderful staff who work hard to support and uplift LGBTQ+ students every day, making them feel safe and welcome.

At the district level, DPS’ policies are at the forefront of best practices in LGBTQ+ inclusion. Names and pronouns can be changed in Infinite Campus without legal documentation. Students and staff can select from multiple gender options on all DPS paperwork, and we’ve removed questions about s*x assigned at birth from the school registration process. We also hired a dedicated staff member who works to improve and amplify LGBTQ+ experiences in 2019 and built a bathroom at the Denver School of the Arts using funds from the 2020 bond.
