Beautiful makeup starts with asking the right questions. ✨
It’s always best to complete a client intake form before a makeup application to discuss allergies, sensitivities, and contraindications. However, makeup artists aren’t always afforded that luxury, especially in fast-paced settings like weddings, photoshoots, or events. Even then, taking a few moments to ask key health and allergy questions can help keep your client safe and guide your product choices.
We love teaching our students that client safety should always be part of the artistry. 💄

✨ When it comes to acne, salicylic acid is often the gold star ingredient. ⭐ It helps exfoliate inside the pores, reduce excess oil, and support clearer-looking skin.
But skincare is not a one-size-fits-all journey. Some people may be more sensitive to salicylic acid and need a different approach or a gentler introduction.
Join Mal as she talks about why salicylic acid remains a favorite for acne-prone skin and why understanding your skin’s unique needs is just as important as the ingredients you use. 💙

Hillary, founder of SBMA, spent time with students sharing the art of Thai herbal compresses (Luk Pra Kob) and the beautiful tradition behind this wellness practice. From exploring the different herbs, flowers, and botanicals that can be used for both face and body applications to demonstrating preparation, warming, and treatment techniques, this was such a rich hands-on learning experience.
Thai herbal compresses have long been used to help encourage relaxation, ease tension, support circulation, and bring the therapeutic benefits of herbal medicine into bodywork and skin rituals.
At SBMA, we love giving students opportunities to experience techniques that blend holistic traditions with modern wellness education because understanding the why behind a treatment makes you a stronger practitioner. 💚
