Teachers across Lancaster County tonight be like:

Getting excited for school!

Photos from Officer Eric Fisher's post 08/16/2022

With school just one week away, first day school photos are likley a part of it.

While these are awesome keepsakes and benchmarks, thieves and those up to no good also use them to search for your:
House number
Child’s Age
School they attend
Etc

So while these photos are fun and important to help document your child’s growth and progress, be mindful of your settings and maybe share less with those who might not have your best interest at heart.

07/04/2022

Enjoy responsibly!

I was very lucky to be able to work with IMPACT (an after school program at Denver Elementary) this spring. One of the guys in the program gave me a gift. How very thoughtful of him. It is very fun to watch the transformation in these young men.

Middle School Misfortunes Then and Now, One Teacher’s Take — Wait Until 8th

I spent a large majority of my week this week speaking with parents and students about social media. This is not an off week for that, it takes up a large portion of my time.

Please take the time to read through the resources attached.

Phones are a great tool, but with all great things comes great responsibility.

Parent your children wisely.

No one wishes for a fire or disaster to occur. But if that happens, you will be thankful for these fine men and women who came together to protect the community. Well done!

Good work.

Parents please talk to your kids about appropriate use of social media and making wise choices. School safety begins at home.

Let's work together!

On Saturday evening, March 26, 2022 the Ephrata Police were made aware of a possible threat to the safety of students of Ephrata High School. The alleged threat was made over social media and then was circulated for a time until an initial report to the Police. Officers acted immediately to track the source and determine the veracity of the alleged threat. The initial information led investigators to believe that the social media activity was initiated by a fake account of unknown origin.

The investigation continued, and on Tuesday March 29, 2022 investigators determined the source of the messages. The account was, indeed, a fake set up fraudulently in the name of a former Ephrata student. The actual creator of the account and messages is a 15-year-old Ephrata resident. The juvenile has admitted to the activity and had no intention of doing the harm stated in the messages. Due to the age of the offender, no further information about the person will be released.

TO REITTERATE: The name on the messages that circulated was NOT the person responsible for sending them.

Charges are pending.

I woke up this morning and it was a tad chilly. Not bad for this time of year, but the dog had taken up most of the blankets. I reached down and pulled the covers back up over my shoulders which caused the dog to have to stir. A moment later the dog settled back in next to me adding a little more warmth. The alarm went off shortly after. After rubbing my eyes I dragged myself out of bed and turned on the coffee pot. Then I jumped in the shower. After taking a nice hot shower I toweled off and grabbed the wife her coffee before heading out the door.
This morning I woke up again under a blanket of freedom that I did not provide. This blanket is/has/will be provided by those men and women who have served to protect this country. For that I am thankful and wish to say "Thank you for your service".

I talk with students often of finding their “passion” and answering the question “what do you want to do with your life”?

I like this way of starting that conversation.

Middle School Misfortunes Then and Now, One Teacher’s Take — Wait Until 8th

I posted this a few years back. The message is still worthy of a look.

Parents, talk to your teens about how/when they use their phones and social media.

After several conversations at the last football game it seems that this information is important to share.

Parents please talk to your teens about the potential ramifications of some of these, so called challenges.

Schools are taking these actions seriously and many can result in criminal and civil penalties.

Have the conversation now.

As always,

Be good.

Deviant Licks?

This is one of many new/resurgent TIKTOK challenges where people try and steal/destroy property. Many of these videos showcase students stealing items from their schools or local businesses. Students try to steal or destroy something bigger than the last person to who posted a video.

A quick search of deviant licks, despicable licks or diabolical licks into the TikTok search bar and you will witness students posting their activities. Be aware that students trespassing or otherwise vandalizing school or other property will be prosecuted.

Parents talk to your kids!

As always, be good.
