Did you know you can add the Southmoor PTO as the recipient of your King Soopers Community Rewards? This program makes fundraising easy by donating to local organizations based on the shopping you do every day. Once you link to an organization, all you have to do is shop at King Soopers and scan your Shopper’s Card. Any transactions moving forward using the Shopper’s Card number associated with your digital account will be applied to the program, at no added cost to you. King Soopers donates annually to participating organizations based on your percentage of spending.

How to link your card (app instructions):

👤 Open your King Soopers app and tap the figure in the top left corner to open the My Account dropdown.
➡️ Select “Payments and Resources”, then “Community Rewards”.
💜 Search for Organization, and select “enroll” for “Southmoor Elementary Parent Teacher Organization”.

And that’s it!

To link your account in a browser, go to https://www.kingsoopers.com/i/community/community-rewards

Open your King Soopers app and tap the figure in the top left corner to open the My Account dropdown.

Select “Payments and Resources”…

… then “Community Rewards”.

Search for Organization…

… and select “enroll” for “Southmoor Elementary Parent Teacher Organization”. Done!

There are so many ways to get more involved with Southmoor! 🫎

> PTO Involvement: Come to our monthly meetings - our first meeting of the 2026-2027 school year is Tuesday, September 8th at 6pm in the school library - please join us!

We are looking for a NEW Community and Family Engagement Chair! Our wonderful Jamie Fisher, who previously occupied this role, is now PTO co-president, so we need another passionate and energetic parent/guardian to take this on! This is a crucial position on the PTO Board, overseeing and organizing our many community engagement events throughout the year. Do you like coordinating people and projects? This might be a great fit for you! If you’d like to learn more, please join us at the next PTO meeting, or email [email protected]!

> Event Volunteering: Spend a few hours supporting one of many fun events that make Southmoor special! We have so many fun events throughout the year, and we rely on YOUR time and energy to make them work. Just a few hours makes a world of difference - manning a game booth or selling concessions at the carnival, running the registers at Book Fair, or chaperoning the school dance. We have a new volunteer interest form to keep you in the loop for any opportunities you may be interested in - https://forms.gle/scEF5imG88QeMACZ6 or link in stories!

> Room Parent: Support your student’s classroom! Room parent responsibilities are to organize a handful of classroom events over the course of the year, communicate with classroom families, and help with teacher recognition and appreciation. The PTO’s Sunshine Committee guides and assists the room parents’ efforts!

Our Southmoor community is so great BECAUSE so many people care and get involved - thank you for being a part of it! 💜💚

🎒The Southmoor Pantry & Backpack Program was created as part our response to the needs of our community. The program serves families needing a little extra support, providing food for evenings/weekends and breaks - taken home via backpack. It is supported by donations from YOU, our Southmoor community, and operated with care, compassion, and confidentiality.

💜 How does it work?
- Families in need can reach out to Mrs. Pappas.
- Every Friday, a backpack of food is sent home for the weekend.
- The following week, the backpack is returned, and we repeat!
- We continue through the school year or until it is no longer needed.

💚 If your family could use some extra help with food, please reach out! All requests are kept private. You can reach out directly, or let a teacher or staff member know, and we will connect you. Email [email protected] or visit www.southmoor.dpsk12.org/deib-information.

🫶 How to Contribute:
Your donations have a MASSIVE impact on our community, and support can come in many different ways!
🥫 Donate Food: Donate shelf-stable, non-perishable, non-expired items like pasta, rice, granola bars, canned goods, peanut butter & jelly, mac and cheese, juice boxes, and easy snacks!
🛒 Donate Grocery Gift Cards: You can donate grocery store gift cards of any amount so that we can shop for what our pantry needs most - for stores like King Soopers, Safeway, Target, and Walmart!
💵 Donate Money: visit the pantry’s CheddarUp page to donate directly - link in bio and stories, or at https://southmoor-pantry-backpack-program.cheddarup.com/.

🫎 What is RRCK’n Moose?

Have you heard of RRCK’n Moose but aren’t quite sure what it is? What do the students do? Why is it called that? When does it happen? We’re here to answer those questions!

RRCK’n Moose Day is when students get to dance, move, and play during their scheduled Specials time. RRCK’n Moose fun happens each Friday of a 5-day school week! It engages students in fun and creative experiences to demonstrate learning in Music, Arts, and Physical Education (our Specials categories).

RRCK’n Moose Day is grounded in the Southmoor values of Respect, Responsibility, Collaboration, and Kindness (R, R, C, and K).

Each RRCK’n Moose Day has a theme - for example, every January, we have a RRCK’n Moose that’s all about the National Western Stock Show: students can dress up in their best western wear and learn fun line dances accompanied by country songs!

Our first RRCK’n Moose Day of the school year is Friday, August 28th, and the theme is Back-to-School Fun! 🎉

Happy Tuesday, Southmoor Community!

This is our last weekly update of the 2025-2026 school year - thank you so much for making this year amazing!

Wednesday, May 27 is a busy day:
- 5th grade continuation is 9-10am - good luck, 5th graders, and congratulations! 🎓
- It’s also the last day of the year for our ECE students; and
- ECE will have an end of year performance 1:30-2:30pm!

Thursday, May 28 means Skate City and a picnic as an end of year activity for 5th graders, as well as Southmoor Student Awards for this trimester! 🛼🏆

And finally, Friday, May 29 is the LAST DAY of school! It’s a half day, so dismissal is at 11:30am, and we’ll be celebrating with picnics with our friends and classmates from 8:30-10:30! Check with your student’s teacher or room parent if you need more information. 🧺

Thank you for being a part of the Southmoor community, and have a wonderful summer! 💜💚☀️
