Learn new ways to connect voice, character, and emotion through actor-based performance tools.

The Actor’s Toolbox for Singers is an immersive 90-minute masterclass designed to help vocalists unlock deeper emotional truth and dynamic expression in their singing. Led by veteran performer and teacher Joe Mondragon, this session bridges the worlds of singing and acting, giving singers practical, character-driven tools to bring authentic storytelling to their performances.

Vocal Technique Masterclass: The Actor’s Toolbox for Singers
When: Monday September 28, 7:30 - 9:00 pm
Where: PH Denver / Online
Instructor: Joe Mondragon
Cost: $35, or FREE with PH Flex Pass

Whether you’re preparing for a musical theater audition, performing a pop ballad, or interpreting a jazz standard, you’ll learn to connect your technical vocal work to real human impulses and dramatic intent. The class will follow a 50/50 split between acting and singing, with exercises, guided exploration, and performance coaching.

Participants are encouraged to bring one prepared song to workshop in class. Those who prefer to observe will gain valuable insight by watching Joe work one-on-one with singers, exploring how emotional truth, physicality, and vocal expression intertwine to create compelling, story-rich performances.

Vocal Technique Masterclass: Contemporary Vocal Style: Expanding Your Palette

In this workshop, we’ll go deeper on technical topics of vocal performance. We’ll help you understand mic technique and how to use it (and not overdo it); explore precise style differences across major contemporary genres; and experiment with different stylistic elements to give you a wider palette to paint with.

What You’ll Learn:
-Mic technique - what is it, and how important is it?
-Style differences across contemporary genres
-Exploring dynamics, onsets, note endings, and textures to deliver a powerful performance

What You’ll Need:
A song you may want to workshop in front of the group and a way to perform it, such as a backing track or instrument you can play.

The Inside Track is a Q&A series designed to give aspiring performers direct access to the real experiences of working musicians. Each session features a professional artist who is actively building their career in the Denver music scene and has a connection to Performance High.
Rather than a polished “success story,” these conversations explore the real pathways musicians take: the challenges, pivots, creative processes, and hard-won wins that shape a life in music. Our goal is for PH clients to hear firsthand how these artists navigate the industry, build sustainable careers, and continue growing as performers.

Inside Track: The Working Musician with Eric Golden
When: Monday September 21, 7:00-8:30 pm
Where: New PH Denver location - 5255 Marshall Street, Arvada / Online

Each session will include a one-hour conversation moderated by PH Faculty and Q&A with the featured artist, followed by an optional half-hour social hang for informal networking and connection.

Eric Golden is a Colorado-based recording artist performing throughout the Rocky Mountain region and beyond. With a show deeply rooted in the sounds of Traditional H***y Tonk Country Music, Eric delivers high energy performances that span decades of Classic and Modern Traditional Country favorites, along with an album of original music released in 2024.

Performing more than 200 shows each year, Eric brings his authentic country sound to fairs, festivals, rodeos, music venues, and private or corporate events across the region. Whether appearing as a full band, duo, or solo act, each show captures the spirit and tradition of true country music.

Performance High is proud to be a gathering place for singers, musicians, and emerging artists building their craft and careers in Denver. Our monthly Open Mic is a space where that creative community can come together to perform, connect, and grow as artists.

FREE Performance High Open Mic & Collab Night

This isn’t just an open mic — it’s a creative playground for performers. Singers are welcome to self-accompany, perform with tracks, or team up with other musicians in the room. Whether you're testing out a new song, building live performance experience, or looking to meet other artists to create with, this is the place to do it.

Beyond the performances, this night is all about connection. Expect a lively, welcoming atmosphere where singers and musicians can practice their craft, watch others perform, network, and spark new collaborations.

We’ll provide a PA and mics, keys, and drums so artists can step up and make music together.
