Reminder: On Monday and Tuesday, we will dismiss early with the secondary at 1:05pm and the elementary at 1:15pm. Our regular school day schedule begins Wednesday. ⏰

Elementary Back-to-School Night is tonight, August 20! 🎒

Families are invited to join us from 5:00 to 6:15pm as we get ready for another great school year. We look forward to reconnecting with our returning families, welcoming new families, and kicking off the 2026-27 school year together.

The 6th Grade Parent Meeting originally scheduled for tonight will take place at a later date.

We're ready to embrace another great year at Denver! Today, we welcomed back faculty and staff. It's always a full-energy day as we get together and prepare for a new year.

Thank you to Ginna Walker for coming out of retirement just for a few moments to share her story and help us with a fresh perspective for our upcoming journey.

Thank you to the Denver Lions Club and the Denver Leo Club for serving us a great lunch!

Thank you also to Denver Savings Bank for providing all staff with a T-shirt with this year's theme. This staff is coming together and looks forward to good things in the future!

With 12 years of classroom experience, Nikki Barker brings a wealth of knowledge to Denver CSD as our new instructional strategist! 📚

Nikki comes to Denver after teaching in the Dubuque Community School District, where she taught kindergarten through 3rd grade and also served as a reading interventionist. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Clarke University with endorsements in reading and special education, as well as a master’s degree in instructional leadership.

For Nikki, building relationships is one of the most rewarding parts of education. She is looking forward to meeting our students, staff, and families and getting to know the people who make our school community special.

We’re happy to welcome you as a Denver Cyclone, Nikki!

Ashley Stanek is taking on a new role at Denver Elementary this year as a 4th grade teacher! 🌟

Ashley is already a familiar face in our school community, having spent the past two years at Denver Elementary as a para and substitute teacher. Before coming to Denver, she taught 5th and 6th grade reading and math, math intervention, and 3rd grade at Clarksville Elementary.

In her new role, Ashley is looking forward to building relationships with students and staff, challenging students academically, and helping them grow into strong, independent learners both inside and outside the classroom.

Congratulations on your new role, Ashley! We’re excited to see all that you and your students accomplish this year.

We’re continuing our new staff introductions with Sierra Schmitz, who is joining Denver CSD to teach 6th grade science and 7th grade math and science! 🔬

As she begins her first year as a Denver Cyclone, Sierra is looking forward to making new connections and memories with our students and staff. She’s excited for all there is to learn and experience in the year ahead.

Please give a warm Denver CSD welcome to Amberly Habhab, our new middle school and high school art teacher! 🎨

Amberly is beginning her 9th year in education and most recently taught art at Cedar Falls High School.

After moving to the Denver community two years ago, Amberly is excited to continue getting to know our students and families while teaching what she loves closer to home.
