This week, College Success wants to shout out one of our recently graduated Seniors, Kamil. Kamil has been an invaluable member of our community over the last four years, and his academic prowess, dedication to his extracurriculars, and work ethic were rewarded this Spring with acceptances to UPenn, Brown, Yale, Columbia, USC, Boston College, and most importantly; because it is where he will be spending the next four years of his academic journey; HARVARD! Kamil is only the 3rd student in GVR HS’s history to be accepted and choose to attend Harvard, and we know he is going to be incredibly successful as he pursues a future in Medicine!

On May 13, 2026, DSST GVR High School proudly participated in the Seal of Climate Literacy Awards Ceremony for the very first time — and our students made history! 🎉

We are excited to celebrate 18 students from the Bioscience Club who earned the Seal of Climate Literacy, becoming the founding awardees at our school! 💜

A special shoutout to Valeria A., Brandon C., and Asfia Y. for presenting their innovative agrivoltaics project, showcasing how solar energy and agriculture can work together to support sustainability and climate solutions. ☀️🌱

This future Buff is heading to CU Boulder to study Finance and is ready to take on an exciting new chapter! 💼📚

One of their proudest accomplishments is making it to graduation while growing both academically and personally through the strong community and support systems that helped shape their journey. 💛

In college, they are looking forward to stepping outside of their comfort zone, trying new things, meeting new people, and continuing to grow while preparing for a successful future career. We can’t wait to see all they accomplish next!

This year, 5 of our students participated in the NCTE National Writing Competition — a prestigious competition that recognizes outstanding student writing across the country. The top two ratings awarded are “First Class” and “Superior,” and our Raptors showed up strong!

I’m officially headed to Vassar College! 🎉 I’ll be studying Political Science and International Relations—combining my love for fashion, history, and theater, all of which opened my eyes to the powerful ways social and political issues shape our world.

Looking back, I’m most proud of all the clubs I’ve been part of over the past 4 years. Through them, I’ve built connections, taken on leadership roles, and found meaningful ways to give back.

In college, I’m excited to keep growing—and yes, finally master public transportation so I can explore everything campus and the city have to offer 😄
