The Auraria Campus in downtown Denver is home to CCD, CU Denver, and MSU Denver.

The Auraria Higher Education Center (AHEC) is a separate state entity, providing the facilities, land, and shared services in support of the collective campus community of nearly 50,000 students, faculty, and staff of Community College of Denver, Metropolitan State University of Denver, and University of Colorado Denver.

♻️🎨 Something BIG is coming to Auraria Campus.

The Auraria Campus is proud to welcome internationally recognized Venezuelan artist Oscar Olivares for a one-of-a-kind public art project made entirely from recycled plastic bottle caps.

And we need YOUR help.

We’re collecting thousands of plastic bottle caps to help create TWO massive murals right here on campus — with the first mural installation coming soon and a second mural project planned for October 2026.

🟢 Donate caps inside the Tivoli Student Union
📍 First floor next to the food court
⏳ Tight deadline: May 31

Every cap counts. Every cap creates.

Big things happening behind the scenes at Auraria 👀

After years of planning and infrastructure upgrades, the PE & Events Center is now connected to the newly rebuilt North Chiller Plant, bringing more reliable, efficient cooling to one of our most active buildings on campus.

This project is part of a larger, long-term effort to modernize systems across our 153-acre campus and improve the day-to-day experience for our community.

Major shoutout to our Facilities, Planning & Project Management teams for making it happen.

Shouting out the incredible work of our Auraria Sustainable Campus Program (ASCP) team 🌱♻️

The impact they make on our campus is truly unmatched, leading the way in reducing our ecological footprint and building a more sustainable future for all of us

As a tri-institutional, student-fee funded program, ASCP is doing BIG things year-round, including recently wrapping up a successful Earth week programming, and receiving a $50,000 grant from the Colorado Circular Communities Enterprise (C3) to conduct a two-season Waste Characterization Study right here on campus 👏

They’re also wrapping up their campus sustainability survey, helping shape what initiatives matter most to YOU. Your voice directly impacts the future of sustainability at Auraria.

Whether you’re a student, faculty member, or alumni, there are so many ways to get involved with ASCP and be part of the change happening right here on the Auraria Campus.

👉 Take the survey https://www.sustainableauraria.org/survey👉 Stop by their office and say hi👉 Show them some love when you see them out there doing the real work

Auraria Campus has a story and we’re proud to keep honoring it while shaping what’s next. ✨

Our CEO, Colleen Walker, and Director of Culture & Community Engagement, David Olguin, recently joined Mile High Living Primetime to talk about the rich history of Auraria Campus and the importance of honoring the communities that came before us.

As we continue to grow, preserving history and uplifting community voices remains at the heart of everything we do.

Stay tuned as we share more from this special segment, including campus activations, events, and exciting projects ahead.

While campus was quiet over Spring Break, our Facilities and Grounds teams were hard at work behind the scenes.

From leveling pavers and resolving trip hazards to landscaping improvements, lighting upgrades, and preparing the quad for upcoming events, a lot was accomplished in just one week.

And as the weather warms up, you’re already starting to see that work come to life across campus 🌸

We’re grateful for the teams that keep Auraria safe, functional, and beautiful year-round.

Thank you to everyone involved in making this progress possible.
