Helping aspiring artists reach their full potential.

05/12/2026

Just want to say thank you SO MUCH to everyone who helped us sell out our debut Aspire Artist Showcase 🙏

Seeing so many of our students absolutely crush their sets and debut new music to a packed out club was amazing.

I’m honestly just feeling more grateful than ever for this community we’re building at Aspire…..seeing our students announce their dream festivals, get their music played by their favorite artists, and go full time as an artist is just so awesome.

Who’s ready for the next Artist Showcase this summer?? 🤔

If you’re a DJ or music producer running your career full-time, here’s a quick breakdown of potential tax write-offs:

Gear & equipment
Software, plugins & subscriptions
Home studio expenses
Travel & gigs
Marketing & branding
Courses & education
Business services (management, accounting, etc.)
Phone & internet (business use)

These are some of the most common expenses that may be deductible-if they’re ordinary and necessary for your business.

Stay organized, keep your receipts, and track everything.

Treat your music like a business and you can keep more of what you earn.

Harsh vocals? Muddy mix? This is one of the easiest ways to clean it up. 🎧🔥

This carousel breaks down how Soothe2 works and how to actually use it in real sessions. It explains how the plugin automatically targets harsh frequencies and resonances, helping smooth out vocals, instruments, and even full mixes without needing a ton of manual EQ cuts.

You’ll see how key controls like depth, selectivity, and attack/release shape how aggressively or transparently it works, from subtle “barely there” cleanup to more noticeable smoothing. It also walks through where to focus in the frequency spectrum (like harsh vocal ranges or muddy low-mids) and how to dial things in without
over-processing.

There are also practical settings for clean vocals and master bus use, so you can apply it right away, whether you’re trying to control sharp highs, reduce mud, or just make your mix feel more polished and easier to listen to.

If you’ve ever struggled with harshness or frequencies that feel hard to control, this will give you a simple, effective starting point.

Save this for later and try it on your next mix.

This one is a game changer for your vocals ✍️

Little AlterBoy can completely transform a vocal, from subtle tone shaping to full-on character changes. It covers how pitch shifts the note of your voice, while formant changes the identity of it (deep, bright, masculine, feminine).

You’ll also see how adding drive introduces grit and texture, and how mix controls how strong the effect feels.

It breaks down when to keep things clean and natural vs when to push into robotic, autotuned, or heavily processed sounds using features like robot and quantize.

On top of that, there are real, usable settings for modern vocals, rap styles, and tech house so you can actually apply it right away.

Whether you want polished vocals or something more experimental, this gives you a simple way to start shaping your sound.

Save this for later and start experimenting

Building an audience isn’t luck, it’s intention 🎯

This carousel dives deeper into what it actually takes to grow something real, not just numbers:

Define your positioning - get clear on your perspective, your voice, and what makes you different. If you try to speak to everyone, no one listens.

Build your world - your content should feel like a universe people can step into. Your ideas, visuals, tone, and values should all connect into something bigger than a single post.

Repetition is power - the strongest creators aren’t afraid to repeat themselves. Your message only sticks when people hear it again and again.

Let your audience in — don’t just share the polished version. Bring people behind the scenes, into your process, your thinking, your growth.

Show up every day - consistency builds trust. Every post is another signal that you’re serious about what you’re building.

Loyalty is earned - attention is easy to get, but loyalty comes from delivering value over time and staying true to your message.

And remember... building fans is never an accident. It’s built through clarity, consistency, and connection, on purpose.

You’re not just posting content. You’re building belief.

Which one are you working on right now? 👇

Your mix sounds full... but doesn’t hit? 👀

That’s usually not your sounds...
It’s your sidechain.

Sidechain compression is what creates space, punch, and groove in your mix. Without it, everything fights for attention.

Here’s the simple breakdown:

âś… Use your kick to trigger compression on your bass (and other low-end sounds)

âś… Set a fast attack so the kick cuts through instantly

âś… Adjust the threshold until you see a -4dB to -8dB of gain reduction

âś… Use a 3:1-6:1 ratio for clean, controlled ducking

The real secret?
Release time = groove
Too fast = feels weak
Too slow = feels messy
Just right = your track bounces
Want more control?
Manually draw volume dips for perfect timing
Or use tools like Kickstart 2 / ShaperBox for quick, consistent results

End goal:
A mix where the kick punches through, the bass breathes, and everything feels tight, clean, and alive 🎶

Spotify doesn’t discover artists, it confirms them.

The algorithm has one job: keep people listening. It doesn’t take risks on unknown music. It pushes what already proves it can hold attention.

So it’s not about streams, it’s about behavior.

What actually matters:
• Saves
• Full listens (completion rate)
• Playlist adds
• Repeat plays

These are the signals that tell Spotify your track is worth recommending.

That’s why a song with 8K streams and high engagement can outperform one with 50K streams and low saves. One shows demand. The other shows people skipping.

And here’s where most artists get it wrong:
your first listeners shape everything.

Spotify groups you based on who engages with your music early. If your audience is dialed in, the algorithm finds more people like them. If it’s random, your growth will be too.

Consistency matters too. Releasing in a similar sonic lane helps Spotify understand you. Jumping genres every drop resets that learning.

If you want momentum:
• Release consistently
• Pitch your music before it drops
• Focus on the right audience first
• Ask for saves, not just streams

Stop chasing vanity metrics.

Start building real listener behavior.

That’s how the algorithm works, and that’s how you make it work for you.

Still guessing your way through OTT? Let’s fix that in 8 slides.

If your mixes feel flat, it’s probably not your sound selection….

It’s your reverb.

Most producers only touch two k***s:

Dry/Wet. Decay. ❌

And then wonder why their mix feels muddy, distant, or small.

Depth is not about adding more reverb.

It’s about shaping the space 🎶

Pre delay creates separation.

Early reflections place the sound in a room.

Decay controls distance.

Damping shapes tone.

Diffusion changes texture.

Size defines the environment.

When you understand these, reverb stops being an effect, it becomes a mixing weapon.
