This lecture series was created in memory of architect Mark Outman, FAIA, and this fall, we will present the final lecture in the series in honor of what would have been Mark’s 70th birthday.
Mark, a proud Denver native, knew early on that architecture was his calling. He completed his first internship with architect Charles "Chuck" Sink, who left a legacy of modernism in Denver. After completing a Bachelor of Architecture at Tulane University in 1980, he worked for Peter Dominick and Associates, HOK Architects, and Anderson Mason Dale Architects.
Mark’s intellectual energy brought out the best in those that worked around him. He later earned a Master of Architecture in 1986 from Yale University in New Haven, CT, and joined Caesar Pelli and Associates, where he collaborated on many high-profile projects.
After joining Fentress Architects in 1995, Outman lent his design sense and creativity to numerous remarkable civic projects including airport terminals, sport stadiums, city halls, courthouses, and museums – both nationally and internationally.
Mark received hundreds of awards, honors, and recognitions throughout his highly successful career. In 2017, he was recognized by the American Institute of Architects' College of Fellows for his contributions to the field of architecture. Mark is remembered for his thoughtful and intelligent presence and his dry and subtle sense of humor.

Join us Friday, May 15 for our CAP Graduation Open House! The CAP Graduation Open House is an opportunity for our entire college community to come together and recognize the accomplishments of our graduating students. We invite you to come as you are and stay for as little or as long as you can from 3 to 5 p.m.
Graduating students are especially encouraged to attend with your friends and families. This is a chance to share your work, give a glimpse into your experience here, and spend meaningful time together in the spaces that have shaped your journey before the commencement ceremony.
We also encourage all students, faculty, and staff to stop by, connect, and help celebrate the creativity, dedication, and achievements of our graduates. This event is open to everyone in our CAP community, and your presence helps make it a memorable and meaningful occasion.
We hope you’ll join us in honoring this important milestone.
