We offer food distribution programming and educational opportunities related to growing and cooking food, as well as overall wellness. We strive to be a community-driven organization, meaning that our goal is to have all programs led and implemented by members of our community or others from similar neighborhoods. We are successful when the youth, families, and communities we work with are empowered to feed, nourish and strengthen themselves and each other.

As we wrap up Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re celebrating the culture and people at the heart of The GrowHaus.
As a Latina-led organization, over 90% of our team members are women, with the majority identifying as Latina. Their experiences and cultural roots are an important part of who we are and the community we serve.
We interviewed some of our team members to hear what Hispanic Heritage Month means to them, who has influenced their connection to their culture, and which Hispanic dishes they love most.
At The GrowHaus, we recognize that food is more than nourishment. It carries our traditions, connects us to our roots, and brings our communities together. Through access to fresh food, nutrition, and wellness education, we work to build a healthier community while honoring the cultures and traditions that make it unique.

Food connects us to our roots.

This year at Abejitas, children and their caregivers learned about the Three Sisters, an Indigenous agricultural tradition in which corn, beans, and squash grow together in harmony. Through these teachings, Abejitas participants explored how these crops support one another and the knowledge behind growing food in relation to the native land.

At The GrowHaus, food education is also a way to reconnect younger generations with ancestral knowledge and traditions. By sharing these teachings and bringing these ingredients into our recipes, we help keep cultural knowledge alive and strengthen the connection between food, heritage, and community.

This Food Waste Prevention Week, we’re thinking about how much good food can do when it reaches the people who need it.

At The GrowHaus, we work to keep fresh food in our community and out of the landfill. This year, we’re on track to divert 300,000+ pounds of high-quality food from the landfill through partnerships with , , , and .

Integrating rescued food into our sourcing strategy helps The GrowHaus provide 8,000 neighbors with consistent access to fresh food each month while preventing greenhouse gas emissions-- a huge win-win.

A little look at what our Promotoras have been up to as they wind down a busy summer of events out in the community!

Recently, our Education Team joined the grand opening celebration at Elyria Park, where they tabled, connected with community members, and shared our famous Southwest Black Bean Salad. We’ve also been bringing this recipe to our neighbors during home visits, and it was a huge hit at the event!

The team also created a fun matching game called “Where Does It Go?” using recycled cardboard from The GrowHaus office. Kids chose different images and decided whether each item belonged in the trash, recycling, or compost. The game was a favorite, with kids even competing for fun fruit-and-vegetable stickers!

It’s been a fun summer of learning, connecting, and celebrating with our community. We’re grateful for all the neighbors who joined us along the way!

Happy Hispanic Heritage Month! This month, The GrowHaus celebrates the Hispanic leadership, culture, and community that are at the heart of our work. As a Latina-led organization, we’re proud that 70% of our team comes from the communities we serve. While providing fresh, no-cost food to 8,000 neighbors each month through 28 food access points across Denver, we're also creating intergenerational wellness and wealth through nutrition, wellness, and leadership programs for our community.

That’s a wrap on Harvest Nights 2026!

We closed out three unforgettable nights with our final evening, America’s 250th Birthday Party, celebrating a diversity of dishes from mini chicken pot pies to Colorado-grown peaches and corn. From the food on the table to the people gathered around it, Thursday night was a beautiful way to celebrate food access, community, and the work of The GrowHaus.
