Our journey to El Salvador began with Gilberto Baraona of Los Pirineos. So lovely to be sitting here with a cup of beautiful Pacamara Natural from the Baraona family 10 years later. And a slice of Pie de Guayaba con Queso por supuesto! 🇸🇻

The coffee industry is ever-changing, but the upcoming weeks, months, years may be quite dramatic. C-price is rising towards all-time highs. With our buying practices we may not be as directly affected as bigger commercial operations but the whole supply chain will surely be feeling it.
We are taking the time to appreciate all that coffee has given us over the years, especially the incredible relationships. 📸 circa 2020
A very special project for an origin we love. Thanks .sv, Carlos Pola, and Tekwani Design Co. formerly Wigwam Creative Inc. Tutunik Atutun is available on our site now: http://bit.ly/3Ge0puh

When you buy coffee, how important are the flavor notes to you?
We’re of two minds. It can be quite helpful especially to encourage palate development. For example, wow this coffee tastes like blueberries? Let me see if I can taste blueberries. So cool, coffee can taste like blueberries!
On the other hand, flavor notes tend to restrict and direct our taste buds with bias. As coffee professionals we tend to prefer blind tasting to avoid preconceived expectations of what we’re tasting.
Would you rather taste for yourself and develop your own opinion or do you like our flavor notes?
Thanks for chiming in!

To celebrate we wanted to dive into the substance of regenerative coffee.
Nicole developed this term in her professional sustainability certification to encompass .pola.33’s approach to coffee cultivation.
Among many innovations is his terraced planting renovation which allows elderly coffee pickers to work comfortably throughout the day and prevents runoff protecting watersheds. He focuses on soil health by prioritizing mycelial networks and supporting naturally occurring nutrient exchanges without the use of fertilizers.
Because his practices take into account long-term environmental health alongside the health of his entire farm team, ‘regenerative coffee’ was a fitting term. Coffee quality benefits as well but not in isolation.
We’ll take this journey a step further by partnering with to measure water infiltration, carbon sequestration, and overall soil health. We have big plans on how we’ll leverage this data to support Pola’s ambitions to share his climate resilient coffee cultivation with more coffee producers.
Stay tuned for a coffee release featuring this amazing artwork by local Salvadoran artist Daniel Dominguez at which will contribute to a fund to support this ongoing work!

Today we’d like to celebrate a few women who are integral contributors to Roam Bravely.
Our first highlight is this month’s featured producer Kathia Zamora of . She’s supported by a larger producer group of women-owned farms that formed a collective import/export group called Farmer’s Project (.cr). Her efforts have improved many of our mornings with very special coffees.
Secondly we’d like to send lots of gratitude to Hannah of . She’s been a huge part of the design team working on leveling up how we present this brand to you and how we honor the producers we work with. She’s even Roamed Bravely with us, joining us in El Salvador last year.
Last but certainly not least is our co-founder and coffee sourceress Nicole. She is always dreaming up new ways to support growers and underrepresented groups along the supply chain. She keeps us focused and driven on the daily. She thrives on making connections and making adventure meaningful.
