1 week until deadlines, but who's counting?
Nice words keep the engine of progress moving!
"Dear Amy, I am Sarah's grandmother and I would like to thank you for all you have done for her. We had the opportunity of reading her essays and sharing her happiness when she received her first acceptance letter. It’s hard to know what Sarah is thinking but you helped her express herself and be proud of the person she is. You captured the “Sarah” we know and love. I believe the guidance and help you gave her will help her throughout her life and give her the confidence she needs to succeed. I am grateful you came into her life.
Thank you."

"My gratitude is long overdue! Thank you so much for all your help with applications. We avoided many fights and much frustration because of your meetings, and your vigilance of her work. You made the work fun with your peppy personality, all while being firm enough with her-which is what she needed. A little pressure 😊!
I am very thankful to you for all your help!"

When it comes to college admissions, I’m not sure you could have asked for a crazier year. Fascinating article about the rise in applications at the most competitive schools in the nation.
College Admission Season Is Crazier Than Ever. That Could Change Who Gets In.
By waiving SATs and ACTs, highly selective schools invited an unprecedented wave of applications, upending the traditional decision process.

“Reflect on something that someone has done for you that has made you happy or thankful in a surprising way. How has this gratitude affected or motivated you?”

Today, my student told me that she and her older sister (who I also worked with) call me 'Momma Ames.' This typifies what I do with my students and why I love my job so much. My work is so much more than college counseling. It's mentoring, it's coaching, it's being present with them on their journeys -- it's giving my students the type of love and care you'd expect from a momma. :)

The joy of a senior who has just realized her dream is so darn exciting! I’ve worked with this student since she was a freshman. Hard work and tenacity landed her exactly where she hoped to be!
