When a choir rehearsal turns into a BIG celebration…BIG smiles, BIG check, BIG love for our community!

We were so excited to welcome the Genesis Inspiration Foundation to a special rehearsal! They surprised our kids with a generous check and took some time to share with the community about why they believe in what we’re building together.

Our kids were excited, our hearts were full, and we are SO grateful for partners who believe in them and want to see them thrive! Needless to say… there were LOTS of smiles!

Thank you, Genesis Inspiration Foundation, for showing up, cheering on our kids, and investing in the things that help them sing louder, dream bigger, and shine brighter. We’re beyond grateful for the love, generosity, and belief in our kids. This is what community looks like.

Plans for the future: Attend Chapman University, Studying Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (Pre-med) - Music Minor
Favorite Choir Memory: "One of my top favorite (recurring) memories has to be the persistent 9-square games at La Foret for the Thin Air Retreats. Another favorite memory of mine has to be the late night walks at Lisa's property, blasting and singing music in the pitch black. This is really hard I have so many good memories."
Favorite Choir Songs: Libertango, Clavelito, Everlasting Melody, Seasons of Love
Advice for younger singers: "Try everything, don't be afraid because of a fear of failure. If you fear failure you will never be able to go above and beyond. Don't take the DCC Community for granted, everyone is on your side, and they will support you in any and every way possible. Having bad days are fine, but don't let that ruin your rehearsals. Let rehearsals be your de-stressor!"

“I’m going to study anthropology at the University of Vermont! My favorite memories were the Altitude retreats and having popcorn on Sundays. My favorite songs we sang were: Adinu, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Erev Shel Shoshanim, and Gaudete. My advice for younger singers is that choir (like most things) is what you make of it so put some effort in!”

“I plan to go to the University of Vermont, majoring in either Zoology or Environmental Studies! One of my favorite memories in choir has always been retreats, especially the talent shows at the end. Everyone being up there and singing their favorite song or doing a choreographed routine with their best friend is so much fun to watch. The best part of the talent shows, though, is the new tradition of playing Linger by The Cranberries on full blast with everyone on stage singing along. The talent show is such a good opportunity for everyone to learn more about the people they spend so much time with by seeing what their favorite songs are, and by just hanging out and having fun as a whole group. My advice for younger singers is to make friends with everyone, it makes the experience so much fun. These people could end up being some of your closest friends in the whole world, so enjoy every moment, and enjoy every person’s company.”
