Dear Pascual Community:

It is with a heavy heart that we write to let our community know that Lola Torres, a paraprofessional in our school community, has passed away following a vehicle accident. Lola has been a huge part of our school community and her loss will be felt in so many ways moving forward. She was very passionate about her work and loved each and every student that came into her life. She always had a smile on her face and welcomed everyone to be a part of our community. This is an unexpected loss, and we are all keeping this family in our thoughts.

We know our school is on summer break, and that this may be upsetting news for you or your children to hear. Should you choose to share this information with your child, please review the following signs that may indicate that your child is having difficulty, but with time the signs of stress should decrease. You may want to watch for some signs of stress in your child, such as:

Most importantly, marked changes in usual ways of behaving or mood changes
Changes in sleeping or eating problems
Disorganization
Withdrawing behaviors
Easily distracted
Physical symptoms
Acting out behavior, including aggression
Passivity or listlessness
Tearfulness

We will continue to process this sad news as a school community and share information regarding memorial and vigil services as soon as we know. Our thoughts are with this family at this time.

Con gran pesar escribimos para informarle a nuestra comunidad que Lola Torres, una asistente docente de nuestra comunidad escolar, falleció después de un accidente automovilístico. Lola ha sido una gran parte de nuestra comunidad escolar y su pérdida se sentirá de muchas maneras en el futuro. Le apasionaba mucho su trabajo y amaba a cada uno de los estudiantes que llegaban a su vida. Ella siempre tenía una sonrisa en su rostro y daba la bienvenida a todos a ser parte de nuestra comunidad. Another snow day! No school! See you on Monday!

Dear DPS Families,
All DPS schools and administrative offices are closed Friday, March 15, due to severe weather. This includes the Emily Griffith Technical College. All school-related events and activities, including all Discovery Link and ELCS Enrichment programs, are also canceled.

We will continue to monitor the weather and will announce any updates first on the DPS homepage at www.dpsk12.org and district social media channels.

Dear Pascual LeDoux Community,

As we wrap up 2023 we wanted to share with our community some of our reflections, gratitudes and celebrations.

During the second semester of last year we were able to get a brand new library space that is accessible to students, up and running. Students enjoy coming to the library each week and picking out a book to take home and read with their families. We love seeing their smiles as they come down the hall! We want to make the library a lasting piece of Pascual LeDoux so you will hear more about how to make this happen at a later date!

This year, in November, we were honored by our curriculum creators by being Endorsed in Tools of the Mind. This means that our school has truly embraced the Tools of the Mind philosophy and approach and has created a community of learning that embodies best and high-quality practice. We are the first school whom Tools of the Mind has endorsed in this way and it brings all of us great pride to know that the hard work has not gone unnoticed.

This year we are also very fortunate to be a part of the CLASS pilot through the DPS Foundation. This pilot pairs schools with corporate partners who provide funding for opportunities for students within the school. We are excited to be partnered with BKV and PNC Bank. The funds provided by them have allowed us to do no-cost after school enrichments for students including Capoeira and Art Garage. We switch groups every 6 weeks so watch for your next opportunity to add your child to the group! We even hosted our first ever Fall Festival which was a huge success. Students have loved participating in these activities and we love watching them engage!

At Pascual LeDoux we have also been able to respond to the changing needs of our community by integrating Head Start into 3 of the classrooms in our building and piloting a Full Day Model 1 program for the district. We have seen the amazing benefits from both of these programs in the growth of our students and the support for families. We are thankful that we were chosen as the right place for these programs to operate and are able to meet the needs of our whole community.

We are incredibly grateful to have had such a wonderful year full of engagement, smiles, learning and joy. We are incredibly blessed to be a part of the Southwest Denver Community and for all of the families that bring their children to us for their first educational experience in DPS!

Querida comunidad Pascual LeDoux,

Al concluir el 2023, queríamos compartir con nuestra comunidad algunas de nuestras reflexiones, gratitudes y celebraciones.

Durante el segundo semestre del año pasado pudimos poner en funcionamiento un nuevo espacio de biblioteca accesible para los estudiantes. Los estudiantes disfrutan venir a la biblioteca cada semana y escoger un libro para llevar a casa y leer con sus familias. ¡Nos encanta ver sus sonrisas mientras caminan por el pasillo! ¡Queremos hacer de la biblioteca una pieza duradera de Pascual LeDoux, escuches más sobre cómo hacer que esto suceda más adelante!

Este año, en noviembre, los creadores de nuestro curricula nos honraron con aprobarnos una escuela de excelencia de Tools of the Mind. Esto significa que nuestra escuela realmente ha adoptado la filosofía y el enfoque de Herramientas de la Mente y ha creado una comunidad de aprendizaje que incorpora las mejores prácticas y de alta calidad. Somos la primera escuela que Tools of the Mind ha aprobado de esta manera y somos orgullosos por saber que el trabajo no ha pasado desapercibido.

Estamos increíblemente agradecidos de haber tenido un año tan maravilloso lleno de compromiso, sonrisas, aprendizaje y alegría. ¡Estamos increíblemente bendecidos de ser parte de la comunidad del suroeste de Denver y de todas las familias que nos traen a sus hijos para su primera experiencia educativa en DPS!
