In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s upcoming birthday and celebration of his legacy and lifelong devotion to civil rights including educational rights, Sankofa Education Consulting will be offering families FREE special education consulting services!

Date 📅: January 19th from 12:30-4:30pm
Location 📍: Green Valley Ranch Library Community Room
-Virtual consultations are available from 12:30pm-1:30pm
-In-Person consultations are available from 2pm-4pm

Families that sign up will receive a 30 minute complimentary reading assessment and feedback to learn more about their child’s reading fluency and decoding ability and will have the opportunity to get first priority for upcoming community tutoring offerings.

As we celebrate the 6-month anniversary of Sankofa Educational Consulting and Advocacy, I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for your support. I started this business with the dream of creating an educational service for my community that is both culturally affirming and safe while providing academic support that is evidence based and highly effective.

Seeing my dream take physical form in this world has been incredibly rewarding because it is a dream planted in me by so many generations before me. Sankofa Ed is growing!

We are proud to announce that we are in a season of growth and expansion and we are looking to hire 2-3 Individualized Education Coaches to support students of all abilities with an emphasis on neurodivergent learners and their families!

We work with k-12 schools, non-profits, colleges, and even military recruiters to provide targeted instruction that is supportive of student learning and post-secondary readiness outcomes.

Qualifications:
📍Five years of classroom teaching or similar student-centered experience in school setting
📍Bachelor's Degree (Master's preferred) in education-related field
📍Professional Teaching License-(Special Education Teaching Certification preferred)
📍Experience teaching ethnically diverse students and neurodiverse students with a culturally affirming and responsive lens.
📍Experience in building positive relationships with students and families
📍Strong written and verbal communication
📍Dedication to professionalism and a strong work ethic --this is KEY- you must be committed to excellence
📍Willingness to collaborate with student support team

This is a contact position and the pay is between $22-$34+ an hour depending on the contract.

It’s back to school time! 📚🚌📓✏️🚸

We hope that you and your students and enjoying these last few weeks of summer break ☀️!

As you prepare to transition into a fresh new school year we invite you to consider how you will set the foundation for your child’s new or ongoing special education experience.

Here are some things to reflect upon this August:

🍎 What is the relationship you would like to create with your child’s special education teacher?

🍎 What does it look like when you as a parent are well supported by your child’s school? How does it feel when you communicate with your child’s case manager, teachers, and other important stage holders?

🍎 What was accomplished at your child’s last IEP meeting? Is there information or decisions that need to be revisited this August or September?

🍎 How will you make a conscious effort to invite accountability and transparency in your relationship with your child’s school this year? We you schedule a regular email asking for progress monitoring data every 9 weeks? Will you request a mid year meeting before the annual?

🍎 If you are unsure of what services or accomodations your child should be receiving this year who can be a resource for you?

🍎 Who are your trusted allies and resources as you navigate the new school year?
