Congratulations to Rich Wobbekind on receiving Boulder Chamber's Franny Reich Lifetime Achievement Award last week!
The award is the chamber's highest distinction. It is presented to an individual whose long-term contributions have profoundly shaped Boulder’s commercial landscape through visionary leadership, dedicated community service, and meaningful philanthropy.
"It is an honor to receive this award from the Boulder Chamber for a relationship that has now spanned over 35 years," Rich said. "It is symbolic of a broader commitment to the Boulder and greater Colorado community.
"While it is an individual award, I would like to emphasize that this never would have happened without the commitment of the Leeds School of Business and the Business Research Division. I am extremely grateful to all the individuals who have supported these efforts."

In a post-COVID world, what obligations do employees have to the organizations where they work? How can managers best motivate their employees, and create meaning and purpose in the work they do? Given the commercial application of AI and ChatGPT, what does it mean to produce knowledge that is unique? In this seminar, we will consider these questions under the broad idea of a “philosophy of work” – a personal roadmap to lead organizations and people in today’s modern economy.

Do you understand how you and your organization are vulnerable to hackers? Does your company have a strategy to address cyber-threats? What are the competitive consequences of being hacked? Drawing on expertise from the F.B.I. and forensic consultants who work with companies to repair reputational damage and recover knowledge, following a data-breach, this seminar will alert you to the increasing danger of digital frailty. It will also present options as to how you can avoid damages that can stretch into the billions of dollars.

Hi, CU Denver EMBA alumni -
I am a 2019 alum of the CU Denver EMBA and chair the Social Impact Committee within our Alumni Advisory Council (AAC). Be on the watch for an upcoming announcement about the formation of the AAC on our CU Denver EMBA LinkedIn Group; the council includes 12 alumni spanning from 2007-2022, with the purpose of keeping alumni connected with the program, providing feedback, providing programming and workshops, and connecting the CU Denver EMBA to the greater Denver community.
I am excited to share an opportunity to get involved in our first social impact project through CU EMBA’s partnership with Denver Urban Garden (DUG). The CU Denver EMBA program has adopted a garden at Greenlee Elementary School. We will have a ribbon cutting in the spring and future events at this garden - more to come on that.
In the meantime, I’d like to personally invite you to our first day of service in partnership with DUG. Details for this day of service are:
Location: Maxwell Elementary, 14390 Bolling Dr, Denver, CO 80239
Date: Wednesday, September 13th
Time: 9a-12p, lunch provided following gardening
To RSVP, visit dug.volunteerhub.com and use the join code “cu”. Spouses, partners, or friends (perhaps you know someone interested in an EMBA degree?) are welcome to come! Space is limited to one guest; guests will need to register separately. I have added additional instructions and what to expect below.
Please know that we will have future alumni opportunities to participate with DUG and the AAC, including acting as a mentor to current EMBA students doing business consulting projects with DUG.
Please let me know what questions you have. Looking forward to a good alumni turnout on the 13th!
Best,
Rebecca Engel, class of 2019
