Leonard Jácome (born on July 5th 1981, in Rubio, Táchira State, Venezuela), multi-instrumentalist, arranger, composer and producer, is one of the Venezuela's most prolific and accomplished harpists. He has won numerous awards representing Venezuela abroad and has toured and performed throughout Latin America, United States, South Africa, Europe, Africa, Japan, Malaysia, and UK. • II, IV & VIII World Harp Festival in Paraguay (2008-2010-2014).
• V Latin American Harp Meeting and the "Mishquila de Arpas" in Santiago del Estero, Argentina (2009).
• Wales International Harp Festival, Caernarfon-Wales UK (2014)
• Schagerl Brass Festival 2014, Melk-Austria.

• In October 2016, Leonard Jacome was invited by the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra for his first world concert with two Camac Venezuelan harps on stage: “Venezuelan electric harp with Big Band Jazz” and “EC llanera with Philharmonic Orchestra”. There, he played at two important performances at prestigious "Dewan Philarmonik Petronas" theatre (Petronas Twin towers- Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia). Since he created the Venezuelan harp chair, he has taught over thirty young harpists. Leonard is also working to develop a contemporary identity for the South American harp. It is Leonard who asked Jakez (Chairman of CAMAC-HARPS of France) to produce the first Venezuelan electric harp.

Leonard Jácome Quartet presents a dynamic and forward-looking vision of the latinamerican harp in contemporary music. At the center of the project is the Venezuelan electric harp “Electrollanera 37,” an instrument created by Jácome that expands the expressive possibilities of the traditional arpa llanera through electro-acoustic performance and modern techniques.

Rooted in the rhythmic language of Venezuelan joropo, Jácome’s work blends Latin American traditions with jazz-influenced improvisation, sophisticated arrangements, and contemporary musical language.

For this special performance, the quartet features Sean Applebee as guest artist on trumpet, Alejandro Castaño on drums, and Miguel Soldevila on guitar. Together, the ensemble creates a powerful and interactive sound, offering a vibrant and immersive concert experience where tradition evolves into a bold, 21st-century voice.

🇻🇪 VENEZUELA TIENE 3 TIPOS DE ARPA

«El arpa venezolana no es un vestigio del pasado. Es un instrumento vivo, en constante transformación».

El arpa llegó a Venezuela desde Europa durante el período colonial, trayendo consigo los principios estructurales y formales de la tradición clásica occidental. En territorio venezolano fue resignificada, dando origen al arpa llanera, una voz propia construida desde la oralidad, la complejidad rítmica y la memoria colectiva.

A lo largo del siglo XX, generaciones de arpistas ampliaron su técnica y lenguaje, transformando el arpa de un instrumento regional en un medio sofisticado de pensamiento musical. Desde la década de los años 80, la incorporación de palancas (levers) marcó un punto de inflexión, expandiendo sus posibilidades armónicas y permitiendo su ingreso a prácticas compositivas contemporáneas.

Mi trabajo como intérprete, compositor e investigador se ha construido a partir del estudio profundo del legado de ocho arpistas venezolanos fundamentales, base para la creación de un lenguaje personal con proyección internacional.

Este proceso evolutivo culmina en la invención del Arpa Eléctrica Venezolana, un instrumento capaz de dialogar con la Primera y la Segunda Escuela de Viena, el pensamiento post-tonal y, desde 2013, con tecnologías como el loop station, posicionando al arpa venezolana dentro del panorama de la música contemporánea global.
