Diversity is huge here at Stout and we teach it in so many different ways starting in our Infant classrooms. As seen in this photo this infant is looking at different pictures of around the world and the people who live in the different parts of the world. This helps them understand print to words and they are also using their fine motor skills to grasp the book.

In Infant 2 the infants were given the opportunity to explore with different art materials and be able to use their fine motor skills to grasp the sponges during creative art time. They were also able to build relationships with their caregivers and their peers during this time.
Our Pre-k classroom got to enjoy a basketball camp hosted by T.O.T ( Teams of Tomorrow). They enjoyed this very much and it taught them some fun and exciting new skills. They also learned some science facts about dinosaurs and got to use their fine motor skills on making dinosaur teeth with modeling clay. This camp helps with their listening skills, gross motor skills and helps them use their brain in the brain train when learning fun facts about dinosaurs.
TOT uses the perfect mixture of physical movement, hand eye coordination, and brain use to maximize the growth of your preschooler.

Our Summer Enrichments have started here at Stout Street with our first cooking class with the Pre-Kindergarteners. They got to choose what they wanted to make and they chose Lemonade which worked out great with the very warm weather. This not only is a fun experience but it teaches them many things like math skills in measuring out their ingredients. Science skills in predicting what is going to happen when they squeeze the lemons. Fine Motor skills in grasping the tools and ingredients. They enjoyed their lemonade very much.
Summer has officially kicked off here at Stout Street and our infants are enjoying the fun in the sun with their very first splash day. They loved splashing in the buckets of water and even sitting next to the sprinkler. This help them with exploring their sensory skills and their fine motor skills. We are definitely enjoying the warmer weather.
In our Toddler 2 classroom the children are bringing a book alive in their art work. They read " Chicka, Chicka, Boom Boom" and then the children were able to make their own version of the coconut tree. They were given the materials and the supplies to create their own tree. This gives the children the opportunity to explore with different art materials and use their fine motor skills to create their tree. This also helps them understand print to art and recognition of book print.
In our Toddler 2 classroom the children are given the opportunity to use their imaginations with being able to dress up in dramatic play clothing. They are given different tools and materials to help enhance their learning when they are dressing up in different community helper outfits. This also helps them learn the sense of their community.
In our Pre-k class the children are given the opportunity to explore with different types of technology and are able to problem solve on how to use the materials they are given. These children are using light boards to help them draw different types of dinosaurs.

Our Preschoolers love the warm weather as they are able to explore outside in the sandbox and be able to use different tools and problem solve with exploring. Using tools such and shovels and molds they are able to create things in the sandbox. Also being able to problem solve by using their hands to create a mountain.
In our older toddler room the children are given different materials to explore with to create a piece of art. This gives them the opportunity to problem solve with the material in how to use it. This child is using a sponge and ocean animals to paint with to create a ocean picture for art.
We love the spring weather as our older infants get to go outside and explore on the playground. They are given the opportunity to explore with their senses and being able to problem solve on how the materials work on the playground such as the rocker and the truck.
Our Toddlers have been loving the warm weather as they are able to head outside and explore in the sand box with many different tools and be able to explore with their sensory in a different environment then the classroom. This child is exploring with the sand by pouring it from the shovel onto his hand.

In the Preschool classroom the children are learning letter recognition and then creating their own version of that letter. So the children are learning about the letter A and then creating a piece of art of what they think the letter A looks like.

In our Infant classroom we work on the infants having tummy time and we give them tools and materials such as the mirror to explore with and being able to see their reflection helps them enjoy tummy time more. Tummy time offers the stability of them being able to hold their head up and help build their strength to be able to crawl and move on their own.
In our Preschool 1 classroom the children are learning about their 5 senses. They are learning about Touch, Taste, Smell, Sight, and Hearing, in this experiment they did a taste test of something sweet, salty, and sour but they used all 5 senses to explore with the food before eating it. They touched the food to feel the texture. They smelled the food, they looked at the food. They listened to the food to see if it was loud or quiet and lastly they tasted the food.
In our Toddler 3 classroom the children are given the opportunity to explore in different materials in their sensory bin such as shredded paper. This child is using her;
Fine Motor Skills: The control of small muscles for such purposes as using utensils, elf-care, building, and exploring. She is also given the opportunity to use Tools and Technology, as she uses shovels to explore inside the sensory table.
In our Preschool 1 classroom the children are given the opportunity to work on their independent skills by pouring their own cereal for morning snack. This child is working on his Fine Motor Skills: The control of small muscles for such purposes as using utensils, elf-care, building, and exploring. He is also recognizing his Health Knowledge & Practice: The understanding of healthy and safe habits and practicing heathy habits.
In our Toddler 2 classroom the children are given the opportunity to explore with many different art materials. This child is using his skills of Problem Solving: The developing ability to engage in a purposeful effort to reach a goal or figure out how something works. He is also using his skill in Art: The use of a range of media and materials to create drawings, pictures, or other objects.
In our Infant classroom our infants are given the opportunity to explore with materials and gain new skills such as Attention Maintenance: The developing ability to attend to people and things while interacting with others and exploring the environment and play materials.
In our Toddler 3 classroom the children learn about Routines: The developing ability to understand and participate in personal care and sleep routines and Health Knowledge & Practice: The understanding of healthy and safe habits and practicing heathy habits, as they wash their hands before they have a meal and as they transition throughout the day.
In our Pre-k classroom this child is working on Problem Solving: The developing ability to engage in a purposeful effort to reach a goal or figure out how something works, as she cuts a picture from a catalog. She is also working on Classification: The developing ability to group, sort, categorize, connect, and have expectations of objects and people according to their attributes.
