What if belonging came before regulation?

That's the question our team got to explore, and answer, at the National AfterSchool Association (NAA) 2026 Convention. We showed up ready to share how Scholars Unlimited built a mental health pilot that centers well-being over compliance because we recognize that real, lasting change doesn't come from rules, it comes from authentic connection.

This month we’re spotlighting Jasmine M., whose journey with Scholars Unlimited has come full circle! She first joined as an after-school tutor during her senior year of high school and now serves as our Program Support Coordinator.

For Jasmine, the best part of her job is getting to support student success and build meaningful, lasting relationships with the Scholars we serve. We’re so grateful to have her on the team! 👑🍕🍍

This month, we’re excited to recognize Candy! She started as a Site Director at one of our sites and has recently stepped into the role of a Multi-Site Manager. With her outgoing personality and passion for bringing joy to others, Candy loves working with both the kids and staff. We’re grateful for the leadership she brings to Scholars Unlimited!

At Scholars Unlimited, we recognize that education is a doorway to possibility, especially for BIPOC students who deserve to see their brilliance reflected in books, lessons, and leaders. This month, we honor the contributions of Black educators, thinkers, and scholars who inspire us to create joyful, affirming spaces for all learners.

Together, we rise in knowledge, in joy, and in purpose!

SU Spotlight: This month, we want to give a spotlight to Jennie M., who has been with Scholars for over 9 years now! As our Vice President of Impact, Jennie is all about making sure what we do actually improves educational outcomes for the kids we serve.

A few fun facts about Jennie:
🌿 She somehow keeps over 100 house plants alive
💃 Kitchen dance parties are her jam
🧦 She has very strong feelings about socks and sandals… so maybe don’t wear them around her...

We’re so grateful for Jennie and for every teammate who shows up each day to champion our mission and make our programs better and better each day!

SU Staff Spotlight: Meet Annabel, whose energy, warmth, and authenticity make her a standout part of our team! When she’s not here supporting kids as a Site Director, you can probably find her throwing jabs and hooks as boxing has been her favorite sport for over three years now and she trains regularly 🥊🏋️‍♀️
