We truly love back-to-school season when our campus comes back to life. However, this school year, we are facing a new challenge - the impact of the Colorado Childcare Assistance Program (CCAP) cuts. During the 2024-2025 program year, 92 enrolled children received CCAP assistance. Today only 24 enrolled children are receiving CCAP benefits. The FloCrit ECE Center serves a population that has historically depended on CCAP to access affordable, high-quality early childhood education, and they could use your support.

Make a donation to the ECE Center today at https://flocritco.org/give/. Designate your gift to the ECE Center by selecting "Restricted - Early Childhood Education Center (Eligible for the Child Care Contribution Tax Credit)" from the "I want to support" drop down on our donation form.

We are celebrating the end of National Breastfeeding Month with the official opening of the updated breastfeeding nook! At FloCrit, the breastfeeding nook is tucked into an alcove in the ECE Center. Moms can walk over from the high school when their baby needs to be fed, pull the curtain closed, and breastfeed here. This summer the nook got a makeover that Parent Educator Lyssa Zawalski hopes will encourage parent-child bonding in a calm, cozy, and supportive environment.

"The breastfeeding nook provides a safe and cozy space for parents to feed. We wanted to redecorate it so that parents would feel more at ease and calm, because we know that when you are calm and your body is calm, you will have better success breastfeeding. It's supposed to be a space that allows our girls to escape while they're feeding their baby and really bond and build a beautiful connection." Lyssa Zawalski, Parenting Educator

The community is helping FloCrit teen moms and their kids start the 2026-2027 school year strong! Kiewit Corporation provided new backpacks filled with school supplies. D.A. Davidson Companies provided full-sized hygiene kits. Firehouse Quilts of Colorado, Inc. provided handmade quilts. Thanks to our partners for supporting teen families!

From field trips to the Botanic Gardens and hiking in Golden to forest bathing and sound baths, our Clinical Summer Group Let's Touch Grass has been prioritizing their mental health and making the most of their time this summer.

This series is led by our therapists and is a movement and nature-based group focused on helping students and alumni get outside while learning new ways to cope, reflect, and connect.
