I know many of you are DPS parents or DPS supporters. As you know, DPS (and education in general) is deeply reliant on bond and mill levy overrides to supplement low state funding. DPS is seeking 60 parents and community members for the 2020 Community Planning and Advisory Committee (CPAC). This group of people will serve a critical role in creating the 2020 bond and mill levy packages that will go to the Board of Education for approval. Committee member participation expectations will include attendance at 5 full CPAC meetings and 4-6 subcommittee meetings from January to June of 2020.
This is an excellent volunteer opportunity to gain expert level understanding of a district at the systems-level and interact with folks across Denver.

Let me know if you have any questions. I am on the DPS mill levy oversight committee and CPAC selection committee.
“Supporting Working Families: HHS Roundtable on Improving Access to High-Quality Child Care” will be held on Monday, October 28, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at the Family Resource Pavilion, 9700 E. Easter Lane, Centennial, CO 80112. A light breakfast, lunch, and snacks will be provided throughout the day. If needed, Child care will also be available for attendees as well as the potential for a $200 stipend to offset any costs associated with missing work.
Through large and small group discussions, we plan to delve deeper into such questions as:
• Parents: What do working families need from child care to ensure that we are able to work and our children are thriving?
• Providers: What do providers need to stay in business? How do we make care safe, healthy, and developmentally supportive while preserving choice?
• Employers: How does access to high-quality childcare influence the success and growth of our business? How do our employees gain? What are the barriers we face? How do we resolve them?
• State/Tribal Child Care Officials: What are states/tribes doing to increase access to affordable quality childcare?
• Child care Workforce and Training (i.e., workforce development; resource and referral; provider networks; apprenticeship; community colleges; innovators)
• Philanthropy: How can philanthropy partner with the early childhood field to uphold quality and assure access? What innovations and partnerships are observed by philanthropy?
