If your student is struggling with math or preparing for the SAT or ACT, this is exactly what I focus on.

Over the years, I’ve worked with students who have gone on to attend schools like MIT and the University of Florida, and I’ve helped many earn Bright Futures scholarships through improved test performance.

I’m currently offering both:
• 1-on-1 math tutoring
• SAT & ACT math prep

If your student understands the basics but struggles with word problems or more challenging questions, that’s usually where I see the biggest improvement.

Feel free to message me if you want to see if it’s a good fit.

Solve:
5(x - 3) / 10 = (x + 1) / 2
Where students struggle:
-Rushing into distribution instead of simplifying coefficients first
-Creating unnecessary steps under time pressure
-Running out of time on simple problems
Is this a distribution problem or a simplification problem?
What would you do first?

Solve:
3(2x - 5) + 4 = 2(3x + 1) + 9
Where students lose points:
expanding too early instead of simplifying constants first
sign errors when distributing
losing track of both sides of the equation
What is the cleanest first move before distributing anything?

Most students overcomplicate this problem under time pressure.
The key is recognizing structure before rushing into calculation.

A major issue with SAT and ACT math preparation is that students often confuse repetition with improvement.
They will complete multiple practice sets while repeating the same underlying errors without realizing it.
That is usually what causes score plateaus even when effort increases.
I am currently preparing my May 25th Zoom cycle and organizing a limited waitlist.

Simplify without fully expanding everything first:

(2x^3y^-2)^2 times (x^-1y^3 divided by 4)

Where students struggle:

applying exponents incorrectly across multiple variables
losing track of negative exponents
expanding too early instead of simplifying structure first
What is the first step you would take to avoid unnecessary work?
