Music learning in babies doesn’t necessarily look how we might expect!
🌟Smiles, giggles, and coos that increase in intensity when the music stops. This is a signal that your baby may want you to sing some more!
🌟Cooing sounds that begin to match the pitches of the music they’re hearing, particularly at the ends of songs. They’re “singing” with you!
🌟Eyes “brighten” or change focus, or move toward the source of the sound. This tells you your baby is engaged and attentive. Keep singing!
🌟Feet are kicking, hands are clenched or waving, body is moving rhythmically. Try mirroring back your baby’s movements. This could be your baby’s first attempts at “dancing,” so give them some positive reinforcement!
🌟Sucking or moving their tongue in “rhythm.” Even when their little mouths are otherwise occupied, they’re still mimicking the music. So don’t stop singing while you’re feeding your little one!
It’s never too early to start music class!

Our winter session is in its third week, and we wanted to share some tips for you to get the most out of your musical experience this session!
🌟Attend class! We know that sometimes sickness or other plans can get in the way, but as consistently as possible, it is so important for you to attend your class each week! This creates a sense of routine and a special place that is just for Music making each week.
🌟Use your songbook! Your songbook is full of colorful illustrations, the lyrics to each song, as well as a sample of musical notation. Let your child explore this book, read it together, sing the pictures to them. There are so many ways for you to use your book at home!
🌟 Listen to your music and jam at home! Listening to your music is the number one thing you can do to get the most out of your class. Your child will feel comfortable with the songs and feel more connected to them when we sing them together. You can also create an at home instrument basket. This can be kitchen instruments, actual instruments, or things you make it home like egg shakers made from plastic eggs and rice or beans. Get creative and have so much fun!
🌟Have a great Winter session!
Thanks to for the inspiration!

Happy New Year, Twinkle Together community! As we reflect on a new year together-we hope for music, more community, more friendships and more baby dance parties! 🎉
It’s almost 2024! We are wrapping up our year and we are grateful to each one fo you for making music with us! Don’t forget to continue that tradition (or start a new one!) in the new year! Music classes for babies, toddlers, big kids and the grown ups who love them begin Jan 8th!
Merry Christmas to our celebrating families! We wish you a warm holiday with your loved ones 💙
What does this mean? It means that music making in our children looks different than what we might think of as “traditional learning”. Even the youngest infant is wired to receive music and early childhood is the most critical time in a child’s musical growth. How do you support this? Exposure and experimentation! Our classes are a fun and easy introduction to music making with your little ones!
✨This time of year isn’t just stressful for adults, our little ones pick up on the stress as well!✨
Here are some ways to use music to create calm with your little ones during the holidays!
🌟Get the wiggles out! Put on fast, upbeat music when you need to get the energy out. You can try a freeze dance here! This is great right before guests arrive and you need to burn off some extra wiggles!
🌟Set the mood! When you need to calm things down put on some quiet, slower music. This invites a natural slowing of the heart rate and breathing. You can do a scarf dance here. Use this before bedtime or after a big emotional release.
🌟Sing about it! Help children visualize the next step so they can be prepared by using songs! Ex: (to the tune of “She’ll be Coming Round the Mountain”) “we’ll be putting on our shoes when it’s time to go…” etc!
🌟Music is here for you! If things get tense at home, put on music and have a family dance party. We promise you it will lighten the mood! Let us know if you try it!
