Colorado Humanities & Center for the Book Convenes literary, cultural, & historical community-based programs for Coloradans of all ages

The only nonprofit Colorado organization dedicated to providing opportunities to explore what it means to be human through our history, literature and culture. Working in partnership with the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Smithsonian, and as the host of the Colorado Center for the Book, affiliated with the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress.

We’re excited to announce the two books selected to represent Colorado at this year’s National Book Festival’s Great Reads from Great Places! These selections represent Colorado’s local literary heritage and commemorate 150 years of statehood and 250 years of American independence. A selection of programs will be livestreamed online starting August 22, and videos of all programs will be available shortly after the festival.

The selected titles to represent Colorado are:

Adult: Four Corners Voices: Stories, Poetry, Essays by 2025 Colorado Book Awards Anthology winners Chuck Greaves, Lisa C. Taylor, Mark Stevens

Youth: Adela’s Mariachi Band by 2025 Colorado Book Awards Children’s Literature finalist Denise Vega, illustrated by Erika Rodríguez Medina
